**Software Applications Manager - Linux Focused** Lead and manage software applications engineering, specializing in Linux, for Texas Instruments' Sitara family of Processors. Key responsibilities include supporting and developing Linux on our latest Arm-based SoCs, understanding Linux boot flow, device drivers, middleware, and filesystem distributions (Yocto). Define and develop demos showcasing silicon capabilities to drive customer engagements. Collaborate with systems and marketing teams to accelerate customer development and design wins. Leverage your experience in Linux, device drivers, and automotive/industrial markets to manage a team and drive key market segment understanding.

Applications engineers for Sitara MPU serve as technical experts on TI’s Sitara family of Processors and its use cases. This function is organized by end equipment and sector to drive a deeper understanding of key Automotive & Industrial markets and enable them to best support our sales team and customers in designing Sitara Processors into their products. Applications engineers will partner with Systems and Marketing teams to deliver system solutions, software, collateral, documentation and tools that accelerate customers' development time and drive design WINs. They also play an important role in ramping new target end-equipment (EE) by showcasing the features of Sitara Processor portfolio in a new context or application.

Job Description: As a Software Applications Engineering Lead/Manager (Linux focused), you will be responsible for:


• Supporting & developing Linux on TI’s latest Arm based SoCs – Understanding of Linux boot flow (SPL, u-boot), BSP, device drivers like (DMA, Flash, serial peripherals, ethernet etc.), good to have an understanding of middleware & frameworks (V4L2, GStreamer, Networking, Graphics etc.) & filesystem distributions (primarily Yocto).
• Defining & developing demos to showcase silicon capability & differentiation that helps drive customer engagements.
• Working with leading customers for TI Processors in Industrial (HMI, Industrial Automation, Grid Infrastructure, etc.) & Automotive ADAS (DOMS, CMS, Front/Rear/Surround View Camera & Radar, IVI, Cluster and Cockpit) market segments.
• Supporting and engaging with customer on TI’s E2E (Engineer to Engineer) forum, online & face to face discussions.
• Key point of contact for TI sales and customers, interacting with Systems, Architecture, Software Development, SoC Design and Verification teams to facilitate efficient and scalable system architectures for customer use-cases.
• Creating collateral like Application Notes, White Papers, Academies and Webinars for enabling a broad customer base.
 

Basic Qualifications


• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in ECE or Computer Science.
• Minimum 7+ years industry experience in software development on embedded systems.
• Deep expertise in developing and supporting Linux on Arm based SoCs with expertise in Industrial or Automotive EEs.
• Exposure to leadership roles – Technical Lead or Manager.


Skills Required


• Strong technical, communication, leadership & management skills along with high level of accountability and curiosity.
• Strong background in software, firmware development & experience in programming languages like C, C++ & Python.
• Deep expertise in developing and supporting Linux on Arm based SoCs along with experience on heterogeneous SoCs systems – Arm Application & Real time cores, DSP, HW Accelerators etc.
• Knowledge of Embedded Systems (MCU, MPU, ARM), Computer Architecture (Cache, DMA, Interconnect) and Operating Systems along with basic communication peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART), Serial Flash and optionally on Camera, Display and High Speed Interfaces like Ethernet, USB, PCIe.
• Ability to clearly communicate (via presentations, email, virtual & in-person meetings, etc.) with customers to understand technical requirements and issues.
• Strong problem-solving abilities by breaking down complex problems into individual components to debug and correct.
• Strongly oriented toward process improvements and agile in achieving success within a constantly evolving environment.
• Ability to leverage generative AI to optimize daily workflows.


Primary Responsibilities


• Technical contribution driven by customer requirement: Develop expertise for key software architecture components to enable product success as measured by time to market.
• Team Management (if hired as a manager): Managing a team of 2-5 people; responsible for mentoring, development, planning & execution along with efficient escalation management for key customer projects.
• Customer’s technical point of contact: Expert on customer system; voice of customer to drive requirements, schedules, and market direction back into Product’s Software Development.
• Ahead of customer requirements in key industrial & automotive segments for TI Sitara Processors: Create benchmarks, software demos, reference designs and self-serve collateral.
