Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Closure Engineering & Data Specialist will be a results-oriented professional with strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills who is comfortable working across engineering, project delivery and data and analytics functions. You will support Newlands through closure by combining an understanding of rehabilitation, mining and civil engineering activities with data analytics, reporting and process improvement.

The role will turn closure plans, designs and operational requirements into safe, practical and measurable outcomes, while improving the quality, accessibility and use of information through structured data, dashboards, workflow automation and fit-for-purpose digital tools.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and maintain business intelligence reporting using tools such as Power BI, Power Query, Excel and SQL to improve visibility of rehabilitation progress, productivity, cost, quality, risk and forecast outcomes.

  • Integrate and reconcile information from planning, survey, spatial, environmental and production systems.

  • Work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements, redesign inefficient processes, test solutions, document methods, support implementation and drive continuous improvement.

  • Prepare concise technical and performance information for decision-making, governance reviews and closure reporting.

  • Complete engineering designs as required.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Demonstrated experience in mining, rehabilitation, closure, civil earthworks, project delivery or another relevant heavy-industry environment.

  • Demonstrated capability in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, database concepts or workflow automation. Experience in Power BI, Power Query, SQL or comparable tools highly regarded.

  • Approximately five to seven years’ relevant profession experience is desirable; however, capability across the combined engineering, delivery and data requirements will be the key consideration.

  • Operational knowledge of Python, C++ or C# and utilising AI tools is also preferable.

What we offer:

  • Highly competitive salary package including annual performance bonus.

  • Option to work a compressed nine-day fortnight.

  • Subsidised accommodation in Glenden

  • Five weeks’ annual leave per year and access to Coal Mining Industry Long Service Leave - one of the most generous long service leave schemes.

  • Employee Education Assistance program to support continued professional development.

  • Access to gym, pool, and tennis court facilities in a family-friendly town.

  • Relocation assistance

  • Years of service awards, Christmas gifts and parties

  • Opportunities to salary sacrifice flights and/or enter into a novated lease vehicle arrangement

  • DIDO and residential options available.

  • The Glencore Fit for Life Program offers exclusive rewards and resources to promote the health and wellbeing of our employees and their families. Take advantage of exclusive discounts, access a range of educational tools, and build the skills to help you remain fit for life.
