We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sr. Associate Director, Data and Analytics.

Principal responsibilities

Product ownership & roadmap

  • Own a rolling 12–18 month roadmap; run monthly planning and publish progress regularly.
  • Maintain a prioritised backlog.
  • Own vendor evaluation, upgrades, and licensing/cost forecasts.

Engineering leadership

  • Lead a 5–10 person engineering team (delivery, coaching, hiring input, standards).
  • Set standards for architecture, testing, CI/CD, security, observability, documentation.

Architecture & in-house development

  • Design and evolve DV architecture across cloud / on-prem / hybrid sources.
  • Build and maintain production-grade extensions/integrations (e.g., connectors, APIs, automation, policy integrations).
  • leading performance optimisation: pushdown, caching/materialisation, workload management, capacity tuning.

Production service ownership

  • Accountable for availability, performance, capacity, and DR readiness for the DV service.
  • Lead/participate in incident & problem management; produce RCAs for Sev1/Sev2 and drive fixes to closure.

Security, governance & capability planning

  • Implement/maintain row/column controls, masking, audit logging, TLS, secrets integration.
  • Maintain an IT capability plan: skills, operating model, tooling, vendor dependencies, and funded gap closure.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in data platforms / distributed systems / software or data engineering.
  • 3+ years hands-on with data virtualisation / federated query / distributed SQL.
  • Production experience with at least one: Starburst, Trino, Denodo (enterprise-grade).
  • 2+ years owning a technical product backlog/roadmap and 2+ years leading/mentoring engineers.
  • Strong SQL, plus hands-on development in Java or Python.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, IaC, and observability (metrics/logs/traces).
  • Comfortable communicating trade-offs to both engineers and senior stakeholders.
