General Summary:

Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to lead Android platform upgrade activities for Snapdragon-based products. This role will be responsible for driving Android version migrations, platform integration, software enablement, and release readiness across multiple product generations.

The successful candidate will work closely with global software teams to support Android platform evolution while ensuring product quality, stability, and successful commercialization. This position requires strong technical expertise in Android platform software, embedded systems, and system-level software development.

Responsibilities

• Lead Android platform upgrade initiatives across Qualcomm products.
• Drive Android OS migration activities and support adoption of new Android releases.
• Work with Android Architecture and AOSP components to enable new platform capabilities.
• Perform software design, implementation, debugging, and integration across Android and embedded software layers.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze upgrade impacts and resolve platform issues.
• Support platform bring-up, feature enablement, and product release activities.
• Drive software quality improvements and ensure stability across product releases.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering decision-making.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Work effectively with global teams across multiple locations and time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software development for Android, embedded systems, or platform software.
• Strong hands-on experience in C++ software development.
• Solid understanding of ARM-based embedded platforms and system architecture.
• Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Deep knowledge of Android Architecture and Android platform software.
• Proven experience working with Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
• Strong understanding of embedded software development and platform integration.
• Experience debugging complex software issues in embedded environments.
• Ability to analyze system-level problems and drive technical solutions across multiple software components.
• Experience collaborating with distributed engineering teams across multiple locations.
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
