**Application Engineer III, Amazon B2B Payments, Invoicing & Lending (ABPX):** This role involves solving complex payment system issues at scale. Troubleshoot and fix production software defects, develop and maintain tools, and automate monitoring solutions. Utilize JAVA and Ruby on Rails for internal code fixes. Collaborate cross-functionally to improve customer experience globally. Leverage senior-level experience in distributed systems, payment processing, and relevant programming languages.

We build systems that provide various payments features and process payments at an unprecedented scale, with accuracy, speed, and mission-critical availability. We innovate to improve customer experience across the globe, with support for currency choice, pay using installments, pay with reward points, in-store payments, pay on delivery, credit and debit payments, seller disbursements, gift cards, and many new exciting and challenging ideas are in the works.

Key job responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues, developing tools, automation and monitoring solutions, performing software maintenance and configuration, implementing the fix for internally developed code (JAVA and Ruby with Rails), updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges and improving operational excellence and readiness of the systems.

Some of the key job functions

Provide support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks, with responsibilities covering multiple products, features and services

Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Ruby, Rails, Java, Python, or shell scripts,AWS, web technologies projects.

Software deployment support in staging and production environments

Develop GenAI tools to aid operations and maintenance

System and Support status reporting

Ownership of one or more application or components

Troubleshooting & Mitigating Service Level issues, Fixing and automating the manual process and providing the resolution to customer issues related to Services either provide the resolution by fixing the issue through config or code change.

Work with Dev team for handing-off or taking over active support & development issues and creating a team specific knowledge base and skill set

About the team
ABPX Support Engineering Team manages three different charters such as Amazon Business Payments, Invoicing and Lending Charters.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of software development, or 3+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience in development or technical support
- Experience scripting in one or more language (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby)

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
