Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hang Seng Bank, was established in 1984 and is Hong Kong's leading index compiler, covering the mainland China and Hong Kong markets. We calculate and manage the Hang Seng Family of Indexes. Starting in 1969 with the creation of the Hang Seng Index, now widely recognised as the barometer of the Hong Kong stock market, we have been at the forefront of the market, developing numerous market measures to help investors make their investment decisions.

Currently, the Hang Seng Family of Indexes comprises over 2,000 real-time and daily indexes. Going forward, we will continue to broaden our index series to meet the widening spectrum of investor demand for index investment solutions.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as IT Development Manager.

Principal responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle for pods supporting index operations, from planning and build through testing, release and support. Ensure consistent Agile/DevOps governance, controls and delivery discipline.
• Set and enforce standards for code quality, testing, release management, performance and operational resilience.
• Lead medium-scale projects end-to-end, managing scope, timeline, dependencies, resources and stakeholder expectations. Provide regular status updates and manage delivery risks proactively.
• Identify and implement AI-enabled improvements across the project lifecycle (e.g., requirements analysis, test automation, code review and documentation).
• Design and deliver an exception-based workflow to simplify the index operations. Improve usability and straight-through processing while maintaining robust controls.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand needs and constraints. Propose and deliver pragmatic technology solutions aligned to business outcomes.
• Work with central teams to adopt approved engineering patterns, security controls and compliance standards. Embed these requirements into design, delivery and operational processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or another IT-related discipline.
• Solid experience in application management within the banking or financial services industry.
• Experience with Java, SQL and relational databases.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose issues and drive sustainable fixes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to influence stakeholders and lead teams effectively.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and deliver within tight timelines.
• Proficient in English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua.
• Strong team spirit, quality oriented and attentive to details.
• Strong sense of ownership and a service mindset, ensuring efficient, effective, and user-focused support processes.
