**Accountant Trainee** supports Finance team, ensuring accurate accounting records. Trainee gains hands-on experience in key accounting processes. Requires university agreement (convenio universitario). Responsibilities include processing supplier invoices, managing VAT, maintaining fixed assets, and aiding bank reconciliations. Essential skills: foundational accounting principles, accurate journal entry, Spanish tax compliance, asset management, discrepancy investigation.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accountant Trainee will support the Finance team in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's accounting records while gaining hands-on experience across key accounting processes.

What We're Looking For

* A university agreement (convenio universitario) is required for this position

** We will not consider applications that are not eligible to a university agreement

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding or interest in learning fundamental accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, prudence, and other core accounting concepts.

They should be comfortable recording routine accounting transactions and preparing journal entries accurately and confidently.

    Key Responsibilities

    As an Accountant Trainee, you will:

    • Support the day-to-day general accounting activities of the company, with a primary focus on processing and recording supplier invoices.
    • Ensure the correct VAT treatment and coding of invoices to support accurate tax reporting and compliance with the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT).
    • Record and maintain fixed assets within the asset management module, ensuring monthly depreciation calculations are accurate and properly reflected in the accounts.
    • Assist with bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies identified.
    • Participate in the monthly reporting process, including the preparation and analysis of operating expenses and sales invoices.
    • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role, you will rely on the following qualifications:

    • Fluency in Spanish and English is MANDATORY
    • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 30 - 40 hours per week
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Rigorous and organized working methods
    • Agility in learning and adapting to new situations
    • Effective communication both in verbal and written
