The Associate, Legal Entity Controller will play a vital role in supporting our broker-dealer and security-based swap dealer entities. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, collaborate with various departments, and provide financial advisory support for transactions and entity structure changes. This position offers a chance to make a significant impact on our financial operations.Responsibilities
- Provide legal entity controller and financial support for Cantor's entities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Liaise with multiple departments to maintain proper accounting practices and financial controls.
- Lead and offer financial support for new transactions and entity structure changes.
- Manage month/quarter-end close processes, including journal entries and waterfall calculations.
- Prepare and review quarterly financial statements for external reporting.
- Perform administrative tasks related to entity operations, such as wire payments and invoice processing.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet substantiation and analytical reporting for broker-dealer/SBSD.
- Initiate process improvements, build controls, and collaborate with IT for system enhancements.
- Assist with internal and external audit inquiries, ensuring compliance.
- Support team, department, and business managers on ad-hoc projects and special initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is mandatory.
- CPA preferred
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in financial accounting within a financial services company.
- Experience in a Big Four public accounting firm is preferred.
- Technical expertise in accounting and financial reporting is essential.
- Familiarity with Oracle, ESSBASE, and HFM is an advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills, project management abilities, and multitasking capabilities are required.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail are key.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and business writing skills are a must.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
