Position Overview

The Trade Finance role is required to have a good understanding of the overall trade flows, parties involved, Receivables and Payables, Cost of Funds, General Accounting Principles and Exchange Rates, Negotiable instruments and De-risking/Syndication. They should keep abreast of the latest changes in regulation and compliance matters impacting the trade finance products within the bank. They are responsible for the mitigation of operational and regulatory risks observed during the processing of transactions, by providing control measures. They manage internal stakeholders by adhering to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and managing customer requirements.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Handle the day-to-day processing of Import and Export Collections, Letter of credit and Bank Guarantees to meet agreed customer service level agreements and review outstanding transactions.

  • Booking of LC, collection, payments and guarantee transaction in system.

  • Nostro reconciliation

  • Updating AET, dbChecklist, DUG.

  • Contribution to department’s automation drive and UAT activities.

  • Ensuring regulatory reporting, both routine and adhoc are timely done

  • Ensure all regulatory reports are timely submitted and transactions are processed within agreed SLA

  • Manage and ensure compliance (KOP, Ops manual etc.) with internal policies and audit and regulatory requirements

  • Monitor Unit’s daily performance; ensure timely execution of transactions, reporting, review & reconciliation of accounts, resolution of client queries.

  • Ensure that ICC publications UCP/URC/URR/ISBP/ISP/URDG/FE manual are correctly applied.

  • Ensure strong controls and processes in relation to Trade, Sanctions, AML in compliance with local and global regulations and product polices.

  • Maintain strong partnership with Trade product and coverage teams to handle complex/structured transactions and support in business growth.

  • Perform risk assessments on operational processes in line with DB policy and procedures.

  • Engagement with internal & external auditors, including SLA and capacity management

  • Manage identification and closure of audit points and self-identified issues.

  • Manage periodic self-assessment and attestation of control standards across all products

Your skills and experience:

  • Candidate should have a minimum of 8-10 years of operational experience in Trade Operations and working knowledge of various products like Import, Export, Guarantees and Collateral Management with a proven track record for working in dynamic and challenging environment.

  • Good understanding of local regulations, FEM manual, UCP600, ISBP, URC, URDG, Prudential regulations.

  • Energetic and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong technical and quantitative analysis skills, intermediate skill level in utilization of MS Excel.

  • Willingness and ability to adapt and delegate wisely and get work done individually and through team.

  • Willing to continuously invest in learning/training to stay abreast of constantly changing industry trends / client requirements and newer products /processes

  • Strong communication skills are essential for interacting at all levels across business disciplines, regions and branches.

  • Capable of assertively interacting with business stakeholders and regions / branches (internal stakeholders) to resolve day-to-day issues, control risks and improve operational efficiency.

  • Strong problem-solving skills/ability to hold clear and concise conversations with internal and external business partners.

  • Develop new processes and re-engineer current processes to meet changing needs of the business and deploy emerging technologies like AI /RPA / BOTs

  • Highly organized individual with attention to detail and excellent ability to execute on deliverable.
