**Amazon LEO Seeks Hardware Dev Engineer for Payloads. Design, optimize, and own PCBA from concept to production for Low Earth Orbit satellite antennas. Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver affordable, high-speed broadband connectivity. Required: BSEE/BSCE, 5+ years' hardware dev exp., proficiency in PCB design (Altium/OrCAD), familiarity with phased array systems, and strong leadership skills.**

Amazon LEO is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

A day in the life:
As an Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative, challenging, and exciting phased array antenna systems in industry right now. You will engage with an experienced team to conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delighting customers with affordable, reliable, high bandwidth connectivity. You will work closely with Amazon LEO's various sub-teams and engage third party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test. The Hardware Engineer will have a complete understanding of how their design changes impact downstream partners such as operations, supply chain, product management, and reliability.

- Own PCBA development from concept through production
- Design and optimize different blocks of electronics sub-systems
- Design high-speed digital circuitry in collaboration with various teams
- Lead and review schematic capture and PCB layout
- Lead PCB vendor engagement for DFM review
- Optimize PCB stack-up for performance and cost
- Generate test plans/procedures based off high level requirement definition
- Complete board bring-up and perform test campaigns for different modules and subsystems
- Design of automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory test
- Support the transition of the designs to production

About the hiring group:
The payload team is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite payloads. These systems will meet performance requirements as well as environmental and reliability requirements. To this end, the payload team collaborates closely with all the partner teams including silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design
- 3+ years of experience in using schematic tool (Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Cadence OrCad, or Altium Designer)
- 1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, etc...)

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience with signal and/or power integrity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
