**Quality Engineer | SMT / FATP** Key responsibilities center around maintaining quality in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Final Assembly, Test, and Packaging (FATP) processes. This role requires a skilled candidate who lives in the Chennai area and can commute daily to our CM partner factory near Sriperumbudur. Proficiency in English and Tamil is necessary. Prospective candidates must possess extensive experience in electronics industry quality, with expert knowledge of SMT/PCA manufacturing processes including SPP/SPI, P&P, AOI, ICT, SA, FBT, and PC assembly/test/pack/audit. A solid grasp of quality tools such as RC/CAPA, 8D, Lean 6S, Kaizen, process audits (ISO, Agency, ESD), and current PC technology is essential. Programming/scripting and data mining/analytics skills are a plus. This is a Monday to Friday role with the possibility of weekend and out-of-business-hours support.

Description -

Quality Engineer ( SMT / FATP )

Key job requirements/highlights:

• Based in our CM partner factory (about 20 km south/west from Sriperumbudur) – transport to factory on their own

• Candidate is/will be local (lives in Chennai area and can daily commute to factory)

• Speak English and local language (Tamil)

• Has product quality/manufacturing experience in electronics industry

• Expert understanding of SMT/PCA manufacturing, SPP/SPI, P&P, AOI, ICT, SA, FBT

• Expert understanding of PC manufacturing processes (assembly, test, pack, audit) and diagnostics

• Knowledge of process/product quality, IQC/IPQC/OQC and line/process audits (ISO, Agency, ESD, RM/FG handling, SOP, etc.)

• Strong quality tools knowledge/experience (RC/CAPA, 8D, Lean 6S, Kaizen, etc.)

• Expert understanding of current PC technology/architecture and HW/SW

• Knowledge of programming/scripting and data mining/analytics is an advantage

• Working Mon-Fri/Sat, business hours

• Ability to support during weekends and out of business hours

• Develops an understanding of the organization's inspection methods, quality guidelines, best practices, risk management practices, etc.

• Designs and integrates quality requirements, processes, and practices into the manufacturing of a product or solution

• Coordinates cross functional projects/activities

• Supports NPI (new product introduction/implementation) at factory

• Resolves technical/quality issues at factory

• Drives monthly quality review with factory (RC/CAPA, improvements, etc.)

• Crafts test strategies using various test methodologies, builds test setups, automates test frameworks and tests plans

• Provides tangible feedback and proposes further changes to improve product quality and minimize risk of failures

• Implements specified changes to product or process to reduce defects, improve quality, and lower costs

• Works independently on moderate scope problems by applying professional expertise, exercising judgment, and resolving issues via root-cause analysis while following company policies and procedures

• Consolidates and analyzes quality reports, test data, and process results for assigned portions of components to identify trends and issues

• Communicates product and process issue analysis to quality engineering leader and product team, and drives continuous improvement

• Develops conclusions, recommendations, and written consolidated reports, contributing proactively through research, and sharing knowledge to foster a knowledge management culture

Knowledge and Skills:

• Familiar with PCA/PC products manufacturing processes

• Experienced with using engineering tools and software to evaluate products and manufacturing processes

• Drives a factory first level issue triage on manufacturing technical and quality issues

• Coordinates issue resolution with HP teams, ODM and suppliers

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in manufacturing environment

• Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities

• Fits in well with a team, understands capabilities and priorities while fostering a collaborative environment

• Effectively communicates project plans/proposals/results and follows up actions to closure

• Negotiates options at management levels

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or equivalent

• Typically 10-15 years of experience, 10 years in PC industry
