**Senior Legal Counsel** plays a pivotal role in managing securities law issues and driving Euronext Securities' strategic plan. This role requires in-depth **securities law** expertise to tackle cross-border regulatory challenges and enforce European standards. Key responsibilities include **providing expert legal advice**, handling stakeholder communications, ensuring compliance with **CSDR**, and **monitoring relevant legislation**. The ideal **legal counsel candidate** boasts a **senior-level background** in **securities law** and **international experience** in a dynamic environment.
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for handling all matters related to securities law arising from the development of Euronext Securities and the implementation of the Euronext strategic plan. Your expertise will be required to anticipate and resolve legal challenges specific to this sector, particularly in terms of cross-border regulation, and compliance with European standards.
This position presents a unique opportunity for a senior legal expert to engage in a high-value international activity by contributing to the structuring and development of Euronext Securities. You will have the chance to collaborate with prominent sector stakeholders and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and evolving environment.
The Senior Legal Counsel will notably be engaged in the following activities:
- Provide expert legal advice on matters affecting Euronext post-trade business units and their clients;
- Provide legal expertise in the domain of securities law;
- Manage responses to information and concerns and/or issues raised by clearing members, participants, issuers, custodians and other stakeholders;
- Provide general legal assistance to the business operations of Euronext Securities (the 4 CSDs) regarding, specifically, the application of the CSDR;
- Contribute to the tracking and monitoring of all relevant legislation and regulation, and contribute to ensuring compliance with governing law, among other CSDR:
- Align legal advice with Euronext legal and regulation team members.
Experience:
- +7 years of work experience preferable from a law firm within banking and finance or other experience from a bank,
- Specialist knowledge securities law is required
- Speaking and writing in both French and English. Good English skills are required.
- Able to advise with insight and understanding of the business’ and the client's needs
- Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and concretely
- Professionally strong with the ability to create trust and credibility among colleagues in the business
- Able to combine legal competencies with business understanding and is able to translate legal challenges into simple, operational and business supporting solutions
