At TI, System Engineers work to identify ideal roadmap opportunities for a business and are responsible for defining new products and platforms based on market opportunity. To do this, they leverage strong technical knowledge of our existing portfolio, deep understanding of the technologies, standards and protocols within an industry or end equipment, and an ability to engage with customers and translate their requirements into technical specifications that will solve their problems. Systems engineers also partner closely with marketing and applications engineers, as well as design teams, to ensure our roadmap is both meeting customer and market requirements and is technically optimized and manufacturable at a price and cost point that makes sense for the business.

Radar hardware system engineer’s responsibilities may include:

  • Review customer radar system  PCB layout, antenna design and trouble shooting radar RF functional and performance issues for customer. 
  • Test TI or customer radar RF performance with various instruments. Understand the performance target and able to trouble shoot the issue and tune it with optimization.
  • Create and maintain a deep technical customer relationship (local key automotive customers) to understand their radar system requirements and key care about; be able to map these requirements to TI radar device specs; work with business team and China local FAE team to precisely highlight the key advantages of TI device for better positioning in China
  • Work with design team to map the requirements into RF, memory and processing specs in new device definition to make sure TI radar device can meet local customer needs at optimal cost
  • Collect hardware reference collateral requirements from local customer to make sure TI software and hardware team align on proper priority for design wins 
  • Build local 3rd party ecosystem to understand their business focus and technical expertise; be able to engage 3rd party with local customers per need. 
  • Support and train central applications engineering and sales organizations on new/existing products
  • Create technical literature such as datasheets, application notes, user's guides, EVMs, spice models, SCMs etc.

Minimum requirements:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of radar system and RF design experience
  • Strong understanding of radar analog front architecture, understand each RF spec and its impact on the overall system performance, also understand antenna design impact on the overall system performance.
  • Experience promoting/marketing ICs and driving design wins by providing system solutions
  • Strong customer facing skills
  • Familiarity with using normal RF instruments like oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, target simulator, vector analyzer.
  • System level circuit modeling with EDA tools, SPICE, HFSS, Matlab


Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
  • Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
