Role: Trade Support Specialist

Department: Operations & Middle Office

Location: London, United Kingdom

Overview

The Trade Support Specialist will be responsible for providing support to Portfolio Managers and other internal teams, ensuring all trades are captured and affirmed in a timely manner within our books and records. The role will have exposure to a broad range of products traded at Millennium, including interest rate derivatives, credit products, bonds, and FX instruments (both cash and derivatives).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Working with Portfolio Managers and other internal teams to automate and streamline existing processes, reduce operational risk and increase the speed and efficiency of the trade capture process.
  • Broader T0 tasks: Ensuring that the Middle Office provides timely, best in class service to stakeholders, supporting the business with evolving initiatives and demands.
  • Trade Queue: Monitoring and timely clearance of trade exceptions generated by new bookings.
  • Middle Office Inboxes: Monitoring and timely resolution of queries from Portfolio Management teams and counterparties.
  • Electronic Affirmation: Working with onshore/offshore teams and counterparties to match and resolve economic breaks.
  • Non-electronic Affirmation: Ensuring that risk on trades that do not flow through an electronic platform have been appropriately addressed and mitigated.
  • T+1 Support: Providing support to remediate issues from the previous day in a timely manner and informing impacted parties.
  • Escalation: Escalating process failures or potential issues to relevant stakeholders and senior management.
  • Global Model: The MO operates a 'follow the sun' model, so clear communication and handover of tasks and responsibilities to each region is essential.
  • Firm Support: While the primary focus is supporting Portfolio Managers during trading, there is a wider responsibility to work with all teams to ensure accurate and timely trade capture daily.
  • Improvements and Initiatives: Identify and document pain points and areas of process improvement. Remediate through delivery of initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, business case sign-off, project planning, delivery, and risk escalation.
  • Control Focus: Proactively identify, assess and document risks within your area, propose control improvements and provide relevant updates to key partners on progress, through to completion.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with traded products, with demonstrated expertise in credit, rates, bonds, and FX markets
  • Familiarity with high-paced working environments and strong ability to prioritise multiple deliverables
  • Strong market understanding and knowledge of industry and regulatory developments across credit, rates, bonds, and FX
  • Ability to balance autonomous work with team collaboration while managing project deliveries alongside BAU requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills—the role involves daily interaction with senior stakeholders across the firm
  • Familiarity with industry standard systems such as MarkitWire, Markit Trade Manager, Bloomberg, and Murex is beneficial.
