Job Description


Main responsibilities and duties of the role

  • Support the implementation of the Operational Risk framework in the region by ensuring risk situations in the Region are identified and under control
  • Provide independent assessment and monitoring of the firm's Operational Risk profile:
    • Incident management and loss data collection
    • Production and management of Key Risk Indicators in addition to other weekly and monthly reporting as appropriate
    • Management of the firm’s risk mapping program and operational risk self-assessment process
    • Provide review and input into new product and complex transactions approval process
  • Relationship management with Front Office and Support Functions
  • Contribution to the  Operational Risk Committees
  • Undertake deep-dive reviews, risk assessments or other internal investigations following internal incidents or near misses; external events or for the most material projects
  • Delivery of training and assistance to regional operational risk correspondents on operational risk methodologies, procedures, tools, support and on follow up actions
  • Coordinate   with  Global  Operational  Risk  function   on  reporting,  standards  or  tools implementation
  • Actively participate to global initiatives to improve the OR framework, tools and processes
  • Provide assistance and support to regional initiatives from an Operational Risk perspective
  • Liaison with other functions via various meetings, working groups and Committees
  • Support the Head of Operational Risk APAC in the implementation of the OR Framework.

Scope

The position has regional coverage across Asia-Pacific.

The position will directly report to the Head of Operational Risk APAC in HK.

Main internal and external relations

  • Internal relations: Both Front Office and Support Functions
  • Externally: Represent the Operational Risk department in industry meetings, conferences where  required

Qualifications

  • University degree and at least 6 years of working experience in the financial industry in a control function (e.g. Financial Control, Operations, Internal Audit, Risk Management)
  • Solid understanding and experience of risk management and operational risk practices
  • Strong analytical skills in the context of risk and control environments
  • Excellent communication skills (in English, verbally and in writing) and interpersonal skills
  • Business knowledge: practical understanding of Corporate and Commercial Banking products as well as Capital Markets: Equity and Fixed Income products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as the role involves a high amount of interaction with a diverse group of stake holders in business units and support functions
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent organizational skills and execution ability to meet timelines and achieve desired results, with the ability to manage large workloads and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and discussions
