Job Summary

This role leads a team of trade classification professionals, ensuring accurate product classification and compliance with global customs and export regulations. Additionally, the role identifies and implements process optimization opportunities, oversees documentation maintenance, and acts as a subject matter expert, while performing talent management duties to ensure team success.



Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of trade compliance professionals responsible for the accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification of products.

  • Develops and implements classification policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with global country customs regulations, support import operations, mitigate compliance risk, and maintain consistent classification practices across the organization.

  • Leads investigation of highly complex trade compliance incidents, deviations, and violations ensuring thorough analysis, corrective actions, and process enhancements.

  • Ensures provision of expert guidance and tactical advice to business units and global functions on classification related matters.

  • Manages preparation of advisory opinions, and defense papers related to classification matters.

  • Acts as subject matter expert on classification, identifies opportunities for process improvement and policy development and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy.

  • Performs talent management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development.


Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Law, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

• Typically has 7-10 years of job-related experience or 5-7 years of management experience, preferably in trade compliance, customs / global trade, or a related field.
