Director, Product Management — Bank-to-Bank Payments
Remote (US) | $160,000–$210,000 base

The opportunity

A fast-growing payments technology company — a platform that powers payment capabilities for thousands of software providers, ISVs, and fintech partners — is hiring a Director of Product Management to lead its direct bank payments strategy (ACH, real-time payments, and open banking). This is a hybrid strategist/builder role: you'll set the vision and multi-year roadmap for a high-priority product area, while staying close to the details — writing requirements, joining customer conversations, negotiating with banking partners, and making the tough calls a fast-moving product line demands.

You'll step into a strong starting position — a live, revenue-generating product, established banking relationships, and an experienced team — built through a recent acquisition. Your job is to take it to the next level.

Why this role

Instant and account-based payment rails are maturing quickly, and partners increasingly want bank-direct payment options that lower processing costs, speed up settlement, and open up new use cases — payouts, earned wage access, insurance disbursements, B2B collections, marketplace settlements, escrow, and more. This is a build role with direct revenue impact and growing demand from an established partner network of thousands of businesses.

What you'll do

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for direct bank payment rails — standard and same-day ACH, real-time payments, push-to-card, and open banking
  • Build and manage a product P&L for this business line, reporting outcomes to senior leadership
  • Define go-to-market strategy and revenue targets for each capability, and drive adoption across a large existing partner base
  • Lead relationships with banks and payment network partners
  • Partner closely with Engineering on ledger, settlement, reconciliation, and fraud/risk architecture
  • Build and develop a team of Product Managers and Designers — setting goals, growth plans, and performance standards
  • Represent the product externally through customer workshops, sales support, conferences, and thought leadership
  • Use AI tools actively in your own workflow and set that expectation for your team

What you bring

  • 8+ years in product management, including 5+ years in payments or financial services
  • Hands-on experience owning direct bank payment products (ACH, real-time payments, push-to-card, or open banking) — not just card processing
  • A track record of building revenue-generating payment products: pricing, P&L ownership, partner go-to-market execution
  • 3+ years managing a team of product managers, with a record of developing talent
  • Experience integrating product teams following a company acquisition
  • Strong commercial instincts and a genuine hands-on leadership style
  • Comfort using AI tools daily in product work

Nice to have

  • Experience with open banking platforms (e.g. Plaid, MX, Finicity)
  • Accredited ACH knowledge or equivalent understanding of operating rules and regulatory requirements
  • Cross-border payments/FX experience
  • SaaS or B2B embedded finance background
  • MBA or equivalent experience in high-growth fintech

Benefits

Remote-first culture, competitive compensation, flexible PTO, full health/dental/vision coverage, retirement matching, paid parental leave, and more.
