Overview

You will help developers feel like ninjas while using GitHub. You'll improve GitHub's tools, from pull requests to issues to notifications, for millions of developers and maintainers, improving their daily experience and innovating on new features to help humans and agents be productive together.

This position requires a product manager with experience building new products and finding product market fit. The ideal candidate is a technical or design-oriented, hands on product manager that is familiar with AI or developer products and techniques, with a deep attention to detail. You will work closely with engineering, design and marketing partners across GitHub to research and launch new experiences, and drive strategic discussions with teams and executives across the business to generate energy and alignment on goals.



Responsibilities

Analysis of Customer & Market Signals

  • Identify and prioritize developer needs through customer engagement, feedback, and market trends.

  • Anticipate and mitigate blockers to ensure seamless developer workflows.

Product/Service Definition

  • Define and drive GitHub’s multi-model AI strategy and platform roadmap.

  • Influence senior stakeholders and provide thought leadership across GitHub and Microsoft.

Product/Service Development

  • Partner with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and emerging AI providers to evaluate and integrate cutting-edge models.

  • Collaborate with applied science teams to translate research into scalable platform features.

Go-To-Market & Delivery

  • Lead growth experiments and adoption campaigns to validate product direction and scale usage.

  • Communicate product vision through executive briefings, blog posts, and developer community channels.

Performance & Impact

  • Use data and customer insights to prioritize investments and measure platform impact.

  • Drive systematic, metrics-based decision-making for continuous product improvement


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 3+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working across AI/ML experiences, developer tooling, or new product development.
  • 3+years of experience delivering product roadmap/status updates.
  • Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries to deliver projects that involve complex technical problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of developer tools and workflows developers use in order to translate tooling/workflow requirements into features on the product roadmap

Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $124,000.00 - USD $329,200.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

This position will be open for a minimum of 3 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
