Erste Group was founded in 1819 as the first Austrian savings bank and is today one of the largest stock-listed banking groups in Central Europe. As an attractive employer, Erste Group offers interesting career opportunities in an international environment.

Credit Trading is a highly successful international team of experienced traders, based in Vienna, focused on market making and proprietary trading in corporate, financial, covered, and retail bonds - in both hard currencies and local CEE markets, but also Western European ones. We provide liquidity and pricing in a wide range of credit products and support the Group’s strategic goals by fostering capital market development and deepening investor relationships across the region.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage market-making activities in senior financial or covered bonds with a strong focus on risk-adjusted returns.
  • Price and execute trades across a broad range of credit products, currencies, and maturities while maintaining competitive client pricing.
  • Manage trading risk dynamically using cash bonds, CDS, interest rate derivatives, and other relevant hedging instruments.
  • Generate trading ideas based on macroeconomic developments, relative value opportunities, technical market factors, and issuer fundamentals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Sales, Origination, Research, Treasury, and institutional clients to support the bank's credit franchise.
  • Contribute to the development of trading strategies, pricing methodologies, automation initiatives, and quantitative tools that improve trading efficiency.
  • Monitor market developments, regulatory changes, and investor flows to identify opportunities and manage risks proactively.

You

  • Have at least 2 years experience in credit trading, fixed income markets, or a closely related capital markets role.
  • Possess a strong understanding of credit products, bond market microstructure, relative value analysis, and market risk management.
  • Have a proven ability to manage trading positions and make sound risk-taking decisions in a fast-paced market environment.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills - master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline is an advantage.
  • Are proficient in Excel and Bloomberg; experience with Python, R, VBA, SQL, AI agents or other programming languages used in trading and analytics is considered a plus.
  • Are intellectually curious, commercially minded, and thrive under pressure while making well-reasoned decisions.
  • Communicate fluently in English. German and/or CEE language is clear advantage.

Our Offer

  • Offer the opportunity to join the leading credit trading franchise in the CEE region, within an international and highly collaborative team.
  • Provide a high level of responsibility and the opportunity to actively shape trading strategies and the continued growth of our franchise.
  • Support your professional development through continuous learning and exposure to a broad range of credit markets.
  • Offer a competitive, performance-oriented compensation package aligned with your experience and contribution.
  • Provide a modern workplace with numerous social benefits and a strong commitment to work-life balance.
  • Foster an inclusive culture where diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas is valued.
  • We offer a fair total remuneration package for this position, with an annual gross base remuneration of approximately EUR 60.000,00 on a full-time basis. The final offer will be based on your qualifications and experience, and a higher remuneration is possible.
