**Lead Software Engineer - Ignition at KPMG** A senior-level engineer is sought for our Tax Ignition team. Based in Montvale, NJ, this hybrid role offers the chance to work with product owners and data scientists, translating business needs into AI-driven features and APIs. You'll architect, develop, and maintain scalable microservices for model inference (Azure, similar cloud platforms), and build and secure client-facing web apps using Angular, TypeScript, and Python or .NET/C# backend services. A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering, and proficiency in C# and SQL (T-SQL) are required. This role requires a proven track record in leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.

KPMG is currently seeking a Lead Engineer I to join our Tax Ignition Team. This is a hybrid work opportunity out of our Montvale, NJ location.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with product owners and data scientists to translate business needs into AI‑powered features and APIs

Architect, develop, and maintain scalable microservices for model inference (on Azure or similar)

Build and maintain client‑facing web apps in Angular + TypeScript, Python or .NET Framework/C# backend services and APIs, secure SQL databases (T‑SQL, schema design, stored procs)

Leverage Azure services (App Services, Functions, SQL Database, DevOps) for deployment, scaling and monitoring

Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI services (such as Azure OpenAI, Custom Models Serving) into our front‑end and back‑end systems

Strongcuriosity and growth mindset in Generative AI, evidenced by ongoingself-learning, active engagement with the latest industry developments, and aportfolio of independent projects demonstrating practical application of newconcepts

Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment

Qualifications:

Minimum five years of recent experience in software development and systems architecture

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, engineering or related field is preferred; Master's degree from an accredited college or university is desired

Solid understanding of software engineering such as microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization

Experience building enterprise systems using Python, .NET, C#, Angular, SQL and Azure is preferred

Strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit‑learn) is preferred with strong communication and analytical skills
