We are looking for a highly collaborative, detail-oriented data center provisioning engineer to join us as we build out new sites and provision additional capacity for existing sites, supporting the growth of a platform that serves a significant proportion of the content delivered to internet consumers across the planet.

  • Work collaboratively with internal operations and infrastructure teams, as well as external partners, in support of error-free rapid expansion
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of standards and processes for the provisioning of new infrastructure
  • Partner with other Fastly teams in the development and iteration of tools and automation systems that improve how we provision the network
  • Support post-deployment validation, monitoring integration, and handoff to Network Operations for steady-state management.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 5 years experience in network devices and server provisioning, system administration, and/or site reliability engineering
  • Strong understanding of how the internet and TCP/IP work, focused on client/server dataflow
  • Strong IP routing knowledge, with a focus BGP with a deep understanding of TCP/IP
  • Understanding of how CDNs work and their position in the global internet
  • Comfort in a Linux environment, and prior experience with software/automation workflow tools such as Git, Travis, Chef, Ansible, or comparable
  • Ability to troubleshoot server, scripting, and network issues
  • Scripting ability in a common language such as Bash, Python, etc.

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:

  • Prior experience working at a Content Delivery Network (CDN), hyperscale cloud provider, or telecom infrastructure provider.
  • Hands-on coding experience (e.g., Python, Rust) for building or improving internal tooling.
  • Experience provisioning and maintaining infrastructure for a large-scale, high-availability global network.
