**Staff Validation Engineer** in Bengaluru, India, drives product quality through robust testing strategies. Key responsibilities include designing and executing validation plans, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring software meets quality and compliance standards. Required skills span across technical domains like software validation, pharmaceutical or medical device industries, with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Proficiency in relevant tools like Albacore, MPL, or GxP is essential, along with strong knowledge of methodologies like ISO 13485 and GAMP 5.

Staff Validation Engineer
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are
You thrive on seeing silicon work in the lab, not just in simulation. You dig into waveforms, logs, and protocol traces until the root cause is crystal clear. You trust your scripts more than your manual test cases, and you automate the boring parts so you can focus on the real puzzles—like why a Gen4 link won’t train or what’s behind that intermittent BER spike at 25Gbps. You jump at the chance to use Python and MATLAB to make sense of messy data, and you’re just as comfortable getting hands-on with oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers as you are reading code. You don’t shy away from gnarly bring-up bugs or cross-team debug calls because you know the right questions to ask and you collaborate until the issue is nailed. You care about compliance as much as performance, and you’re the one who double-checks the test plan against the latest PCIe or IEEE spec. If you’ve ever stayed late to correlate a lab measurement with a simulation, or built a tool because nothing off-the-shelf was good enough, you’ll fit right in.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Carrying out pre-silicon and post-silicon validation for high-speed SerDes, PCIe (Gen3/4/5), and multi-speed Ethernet IP, driving real bring-up and debug on advanced silicon platforms.
  • Creating, executing, and automating validation test plans using Python and C, ensuring protocol compliance, robust error handling, and peak IP performance.
  • Building SDK-driven test environments to validate firmware-controlled features and software-configurable parameters, automating regressions, stress tests, and recovery scenarios.
  • Using MATLAB to analyze simulation and silicon data, including eye diagrams, jitter, BER, and validating signal processing algorithms.
  • Debugging protocol and system-level issues across hardware, RTL, firmware, and software, leveraging custom tools, internal scripts, and hands-on lab equipment.
  • Collaborating with RTL, architecture, firmware, and emulation teams to solve tough debug challenges and improve validation methodologies.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to silicon readiness reviews and customer-facing debug/support activities.
  • The Impact You Will Have
  • Catching issues in the lab and in simulation before they reach customers, directly improving the quality and reputation of Synopsys Interface IP.
  • Enabling industry-leading SoCs to hit aggressive performance, power, and compliance targets in networking, data center, automotive, and compute markets.
  • Driving automation that increases test coverage and repeatability, freeing the team to focus on innovation instead of repetition.
  • Accelerating time-to-silicon by correlating simulation, emulation, and silicon results, reducing costly debug cycles.
  • Raising the bar on validation methodology and protocol debug, making the team more effective with every project.
  • Supporting customer teams with deep technical insight, ensuring successful silicon integration and adoption.
  • Sharing your technical know-how, you’ll help build a stronger, more capable validation team.
  • What You'll Need
  • M.Tech or B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation or verification of high-speed interface IP (SerDes, PCIe, or Ethernet).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python; solid C programming for low-level and SDK-based validation.
  • Practical experience with MATLAB for data postprocessing, signal analysis, and algorithm validation.
  • Direct experience with lab equipment: high-speed oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, and custom evaluation boards.
  • Experience with protocol debug at the transaction, link, and physical layer (PCIe, Ethernet, or similar).
  • Familiarity with industry standards/specs like PCI-SIG and IEEE Ethernet is a plus.
  • Who You Are
  • You turn ambiguous failures into actionable debug plans and don’t stop until you know why something broke.
  • You automate first and ask “why are we doing this by hand?” in every validation cycle.
  • You move fluidly between scripting, lab work, and cross-team collaboration, adapting your approach to the problem at hand.
  • You can explain a protocol-level bug or spec compliance gap to design, firmware, or customer teams—without losing the technical nuance.
  • You keep your test plans and analysis rooted in real-world spec compliance, not just “happy path” scenarios.
  • You lift up junior engineers, sharing your process and tools so the whole team levels up.
  • The Team You'll Be Part Of
Your recruiter will share more about the team structure and mission during the interview process.

    Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
