**Quality Specialist (Weekend) - Starlink Supply Chain Reliability** weekend-driven Quality Specialist needed for SpaceX's Starlink supply chain. Key responsibilities include managing and resolving vendor part nonconformances, with a focus on rapid review, containment, disposition, and closure. This role demands extensive knowledge in manufacturing quality tools, proactive risk management, and a steadfast commitment to supplier success. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field, 2-5 years of experience, and proficiency in ASQ, APQP, MSA, and root cause analysis. Familiarity with quality management software and experience in aerospace or manufacturing industry are pluses. Join SpaceX in driving our mission to make life multiplanetary.

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

QUALITY SPECIALIST - WEEKEND SHIFT (STARLINK SUPPLY CHAIN RELIABILITY)

SpaceX demands a new type of supply chain. We require our suppliers to provide premium quality with rapidly evolving designs at increasingly ambitious volumes. We are actively looking for candidates who possess comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and quality tools and have unrelenting motivation to enable suppliers for success.

The Supply Chain Reliability team is chartered with global quality surveillance of the supply base, reducing supply chain risk through external evaluations and internal risk reviews, leading failure investigations and proactively driving source qualification activities.

This position supports the Supply Chain Reliability team in a primarily operations-focused capacity on a weekend shift (four 12-hour shifts, Friday through Monday). The role emphasizes high operational rigor in managing and clearing nonconformance tickets for outsourced/vendor piece parts submitted by inspection, production, receiving, and inventory. The Quality Specialist will drive rapid review, containment assessment, disposition, and closure of vendor-related issues to meet Supplier Quality SLA metrics, while minimizing the impact of vendor-caused defects on SpaceX production. Mainly focusing on issue management, containments, sorting, and coordination with Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help drive closure of nonconformance tickets for outsourced/vendor piece parts found during production, inspection, receiving, and inventory processes.
  • Perform timely review of vendor piece part issues identified during production; assess the need for containment actions or sample inspections.
  • Manage containment activities associated with non-conforming outsourced product, including identification of scope, coordination of removal of impacted parts from production flow, and oversight of sorting activities (especially those required over the weekend).
  • Work closely with Engineering to review issues, action dispositions, and drive adherence to Supplier Quality SLA metrics.
  • Execute nonconformance management processes for vendor parts, including dispositions, return to vendor (RTV)/RMA coordination, and email notifications to suppliers for nonconformances or RMAs as needed.
  • Support critical or urgent inspections as required to maintain production flow on the weekend shift.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Reliability Engineers and cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production, Inspection, Inventory) to eliminate the immediate impact of vendor defects and ensure part reliability.
  • Analyze issue trends related to outsourced parts to identify opportunities for process improvements that reduce the overall nonconformance landscape.
  • Provide high service levels to internal stakeholders with operational focus, helping free Engineering resources drive supplier improvement and push quality upstream.
  • Assist the team in maintaining and improving quality management processes, documentation, and standards as needed for continued success on outsourced parts.
  • Cultivate effective working relationships across SpaceX teams to identify, contain, and reduce impacts from vendor defects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality-related, engineering, or supply chain field, or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or supply chain.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to liaise cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Inspection, and other internal teams.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, technical requirements, and quality tools.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001 or similar) and nonconformance/MRB processes.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality and nonconformance processes (e.g., dispositions, RTV/RMA, CAPA basics, issue ticket systems).
  • Experience managing containments, sorting activities, or production quality issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in SQL and MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with lean concepts, data analysis, and quality metrics/SLA tracking.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and urgency on a weekend operations schedule.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a weekend shift position consisting of four 12-hour shifts (Friday through Monday) with potential need for additional overtime support during off days to meet critical quality or production needs.
