Full Stack Developer

Glencore IT Function Mexico City

We are seeking a full-stack developer to join our team in our Mexico office, with a broad, yet modern skill set and a proven track record, who ideally has some knowledge and experience of the commodity or financial trading sectors.

Primary Task & Key Responsibilities:

  • Full stack developer with around five years development experience, working in a scrum team to deliver robust enterprise-wide solutions utilising industry standard practices

  • Design, develop, enhance and maintain applications using agreed coding standards and quality targets.

  • Ensure quality via code reviews and thorough unit testing.

  • Liaise with the immediate scrum team, other scrum/project teams, line manager and development lead to ensure accurate and complete delivery.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of software development best practices within Glencore IT.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to Degree-level (or equivalent)

Work Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • 3–5 years’ minimum experience designing and developing applications both individually and as part of a team

  • Knowledge of a commodity or financial trading environment would be useful but is not a prerequisite

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical problems

  • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum team environment

  • Experience with the following technologies would be highly advantageous

  • C# and .NET 6+

  • REST APIs incorporated with SQL Server or Sybase databases

  • NHibernate or Entity Framework

  • Angular 13+ with the DevExtreme UI library (desirable)

  • TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3

  • RxJS, observers and observables

  • Playwright, ReadyAPI and SpecFlow

  • Jira, GitHub and Confluence

  • Ability to grasp complex multi-part systems.

  • A willingness to engage with and be interested in the trading and commercial activities of the business.

  • Delivery focused and value driven.

  • Working independently, without close supervision

Our ideal candidate:

  • Building modern-web applications

  • Modern UI design principles.  i.e. Able to take initial design direction and interpret those guidelines to finalise the design through to a solution

  • Restful API Design and development fundamentals

  • Good SQL knowledge

  • Functional and functional-reactive programming in Typescript

  • Test case preparation and execution
