As a Cloud Platform CPET Developer Relations Engineer, you will drive cloud platform evaluations and influence the developer experience for Google Cloud. You will scope and deliver engaged evaluations across topics, write detailed reports, and coordinate with product engineering, sales, marketing, and documentation teams. You will test new Google Cloud products, capture friction logs, and help produce sample code, tutorials, and open source contributions to aid developers. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience in one or more programming language: Java, Python, Node.js/JavaScript, or Golang.
  • Experience with Google Cloud or Cloud Computing Platform.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud native infrastructure technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • Experience with generative AI, machine learning, or vector databases.
  • Ability to take ownership of solutions and exert influence without authority.

As a Cloud Developer Relations Engineer, you stand at the intersection of a technology movement shaping our world - between the people who build it and the customers who use it. Developer Relations Engineers are the engineering wing of Developer Relations. We ensure that Google Cloud and related open source projects like Kubernetes, Beam and TensorFlow are amazing for developers. As "customer zero" we're the first developers to use upcoming services and ensure they meet customer's needs. We provide feedback on API design, platform consistency and functionality. We write sample code and work with our technical writing teams to produce developer documentation, quickstarts and tutorials. We release open source code, participate in developer forums and help troubleshoot developer problems.

The Cloud Platform Evaluations Team (CPET) aims to drive Google Cloud adoption by identifying and advocating improvements to its developer experience. We evaluate Google Cloud compared to industry performers, coordinate and drive findings from those evaluations, attend industry events, and work to promote areas where Google Cloud excels. CPET is part of a larger developer source and signal organization. As a Developer Relations Engineer on this team, you will drive internal engaged research, and represent the developer as you work to improve Google Cloud's developer experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Scope, execute, and deliver Cloud engaged evaluations, spanning a wide variety of topics.
  • Write detailed reports on findings, file bugs, and work with stakeholder teams to discuss next steps, including product engineering teams, sales, marketing, technical writing, and developer relations.
  • Work with other cross-developer relations programs, including the cloud architecture center, and Insights, to swap findings and drive overlapping initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry product launches and developments, and attend industry events. Report relevant findings back to cloud leadership.
  • Try out new and upcoming Google Cloud products and features; write friction logs.
