The Automation Engineering Manager will lead the EU AMZL RME automation engineering team, overseeing controls design, testing and implementation for material handling systems across EU delivery stations. You will manage a team of Senior Automation Engineers, coordinate with regional teams, drive cross-regional, EU-wide controls projects, and ensure safety, training and preventative maintenance. You will develop and improve standards, solve complex issues across controls, fieldbus, IT platforms, and integrate IT systems and cloud technologies. You will act as a technical reference and drive process improvements across the EU automation strategy.

The Amazon Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps all our equipment in excellent working order, from printers to fully automated sortation systems. The EU AMZL RME team is seeking an experienced, hands-on and customer obsessed Automation Engineering Manager to support expansion across our Last Mile delivery network in EU. This role can be based in any Delivery Station/Corporate Office across the EU. As a member of the EU AMZL RME leadership team, you will be responsible for supporting technical device controls as part of material handling automation projects. You will be managing a team of Senior Automation Engineers and with this team you will be planning, coordinating and participating in design, documentation, testing and implementation of controls solutions for material handling systems. Together with your team you will create a group of primary Subject Matter Experts for internal and external resources. You will ensure that safety comes first in all controls design efforts and will support device troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and training for RME engineers and Operations partners. Together with your team and in coordination with Regional Automation Engineering teams you will be looking after the automated systems within our buildings and the systems that interact with them from outside the Delivery Stations, leading process improvements, projects delivery across multiple platforms, helping with faultfinding and will be involved in the installation and commissioning of new equipment. You will be a key part of AMZL RME leadership, you will lead a team of highly skilled engineers, you will cooperate with your peers from CF to contribute into wider EU RME Automation Strategy and thrive in delivering high-quality results and always be on the lookout for improvements.

Key job responsibilities
• Ability to take the lead and be the subject matter expert within EU RME Field Team • Ability to develop code on different platforms • Experience solving complex issues across Controls, Fieldbus and IT Platforms • Knowledge of Process Flow • Proven ability to analyze metrics and leverage them for process optimization. • Working knowledge of Warehouse Control Systems and Telegrams. • Strong ability to communicate complex problems across business teams. • Run and lead cross-regional / EU-wide Controls Project • Experience in advising and steering Vendor projects at EU level• Experience leading or being a signatory in a Change Management Process • Being a point of technical reference and escalation for Controls Engineers, Engineering Teams, Operational Teams and other Business Stakeholders within across EU • Sound knowledge of Machine Safety Regulations and Safe Working Practices. • Driving and Developing Standards and Processes as part of EU initiatives • Experience working in International groups of Engineers. • Strong desire to develop themselves and another AE within EU • Identify Skill and Knowledge Gaps within AE and RME Teams and proactively drive improvements • Deliver technical and non-technical system training to different business groups • Experience supporting or developing IT systems like IP Networks, Linux, SQL Databases and Cloud Technology.

Basic qualifications
- Experience in systems administration, network engineering, or software development engineering
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
- At least 2 years of experience in leading or managing a team of highly skilled senior engineers.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in software development and delivery

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
