AWS Infrastructure Services seeks a Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to act as the primary interface with Colocation providers for daily data-center operations. You will oversee routine maintenance, incident response, and site restoration, perform root-cause analysis, and document planned maintenance and inventory. You’ll participate in expansion projects to maintain efficiency and continuously seek improvements to safety, security, and availability across AWS data centers.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities

• Manage the Colocation provider to conduct regular inspections and routine preventive maintenance including switchgear, generators, UPS, and cooling systems
• Engage in non-office on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to emergency situations or incidents that may impact AWS services
• Serve as primary site responder for emergency events to maintain prompt facility restoration and rack recovery
• Perform Root Cause Analysis for data center facilities issues with the Colocation provider
• Constantly explore and recommend improvements to enhance data center safety, security, and availability
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of all Colocation facilities planned maintenance works to meet AWS internal standards
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date Data Center infrastructure inventory through related matrices and internal dashboards
• Take charge of rack installation and conduct rack space, power, and cooling assessments
• Participate in expansion projects to maintain the highest operational efficiency in the project phase
