Lead and develop a team of Network Decommissioning technicians responsible for the non-impactful, timely removal of networking gear from AWS data centers in the Northern Virginia region. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define plans to meet capacity and network requirements through decommissioning efforts, and work with NCD leaders to standardize and maintain internal cabling across data centers. Identify and manage risks on high-priority projects to enable new capacity and services, and support automation initiatives to reduce cost and decommissioning time while minimizing risk.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Network Decommissioning Manager to join our rapidly growing network and Cable Decommissioning team (NCD). As a manager in this team, you will work directly with engineers and managers across the company to support and scale removal of Networking gear from data centers in the Northern Virginia region. You will also work with existing local and global teams to develop innovative solutions to decommission networks and manage the implementation of solutions. Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of Network Decommissioning techs
- Ensure non-impactful and timely removal of existing network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define plans and process to achieve required capacity and network requirements via decommissioning efforts.
- Partner with peer leaders within the NCD organization to create and perpetuate a true lifecyle approach to standardizing and maintaining internal cabling throughout the data center environments.
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues; leading high-profile/visibility projects, as required, to enable new capacity and services.
- Support new automation introduction activities that, reduce cost and decommissioning time; obsessing over reducing risk and legacy constraints inherent in existing facilities.
- Travel 20% or more to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of people management and team development experience- 5+ years of engineering work managing large-scale services experience
- Experience in people management and team development
- Experience in engineering work, managing large-scale services
- Experience operating a mission-critical team or product
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Experience maintaining SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports experience- 5+ years of work in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
- Experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
