Join the AWS Global Connectivity and Network Availability (GCNA) Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team to design, operate, deploy, and sustain large-scale networks. You’ll develop network designs, standards, and deployment procedures, create High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents, and drive automation to improve quality and velocity. You will collaborate with internal customers and other engineers to take designs from concept to production, forecasting needs and solving problems before they occur.

The AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization is looking for a Network Development Engineer to join our Backbone Enterprise, and Regional Engineering (BERE) team. Network Development Engineers partner with our broader Infrastructure organization on configurations standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, and also deploy and sustain networking software tools.
AWS GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) is the backbone that connects the global
AWS network. Focused on controlling the internet traffic that allows users to access their information
and applications regardless of where they are in the world. GCNA is responsible for building and
designing a complex backbone network that allows internet traffic to flow efficiently between data
centers and customers.
Key job responsibilities
Network Development Engineers perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation.
• Your core job responsibility is to design network designs, services and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements.
• Together, you and your leadership team will decide on the projects that best support your team’s mission.
• You and your team will design ahead of customer or technology needs, always predicting and solving for problems that have not yet occurred. This takes the form of creating and defending High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents, working with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps, constructing and testing your solutions, and providing support to the teams that will deploy and operate these designs.
• You will create and automate deployment processes that increases quality and velocity.
• You will Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production

Basic Qualifications
- • 5+ years of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols as well as network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.- • 5+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP and ISIS in a large enterprise environment.
- • 5+ years working with major network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and/ or Junos.
- • 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, shell.
Preferred Qualifications
- • A Masters in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience.- • Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations.
- • Expert-level certifications (e.g. CCIE, JNCIE) a plus.
- • Expert-level scripting and or automation skills in a network environment.
- • Software development/programming skills are a plus.
