An AWS Developer Advocate focused on Generative AI to educate and enable developers to harness GenAI on AWS. You will create and present technical content, tutorials, and sample code, while mentoring other developers to integrate GenAI into their workflows. You will translate real-world developer experiences into product feedback to influence roadmaps and participate in early ideation for developer tools. You will support Developer Relations activities across the region, helping developers adopt GenAI to improve productivity and software delivery.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Developer Advocate (DA) focusing on Generative AI to join the Developer Experience team in Bangalore, India. You'll be at the forefront of educating and enabling developers to harness the power of Generative AI on AWS.


Key job responsibilities
• As a Developer Advocate on Generative AI, you'll be a technical thought leader in leveraging AI-powered tools for software development. You'll create and present technical content on integrating Generative AI into everyday coding practices, including in-depth tutorials, thought leadership articles on best practices and code samples.
• Your expertise in both traditional software development and Generative AI technologies will position you as a go-to expert for developers seeking guidance on enhancing their development processes with AI. You'll mentor other developers, helping them effectively integrate Generative AI tools into their workflows.
• You'll inform AWS product roadmaps with insights from real-world developer experiences and challenges in adopting Generative AI tools. You'll participate in early-stage product ideation for developer tools and services, bringing the voice of practical software developers to the table.
• You'll support Developer Relations activities across the region, focusing on how Generative AI can solve common development challenges and improve overall productivity.


A day in the life
Your day might start with a team standup, aligning on current projects. You could spend the morning preparing for an upcoming workshop on how to use Amazon Q for code generation, refactoring and automated testing. In the afternoon, you might spend time answering questions on Stack Overflow about integrating AWS Generative AI services into everyday software development tasks. Your day might conclude with some experimental coding, investigating ways to combine these AI-powered tools with traditional software development practices to create more efficient development workflows.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 12+ years in Software Development and Cloud Computing building performant and scalable applications
- Experience working with generative AI models, including text, image, and video generation, and familiarity with key concepts like foundational LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and model fine-tuning techniques (such as instruct tuning, PEFT, RLHF).
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with experience delivering technical content to developers of varied backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

- Proven experience developing applications using generative AI tools and foundational models, including prototypes and production-ready solutions.
- Proficiency with modern LLM/AI tools (e.g., LlamaIndex, Amazon Q, LangChain, and vector databases), and a strong interest in exploring new tools and techniques within the GenAI ecosystem.
- Experience with AWS AI/ML services such as Amazon Bedrock, and understanding of how to integrate these services into generative AI workflows.
- Demonstrable experience engaging with developer communities, including creating technical content, public speaking, or active participation on platforms like GitHub, Stack Overflow, or developer forums.
- Willingness to travel as required.
