Work as a software engineer for antenna systems in Amazon's LEO project, collaborating with systems architects, hardware, and firmware/software teams to bring up and test FPGA, RF, and networking-enabled subsystems. Develop and maintain tools and scripts for phased-array bring-up, hardware test automation, complex data storage, and 2D/3D design automation, while building scalable, low-latency AWS-based workflows. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, designing, implementing, integrating, testing, and launching large-scale distributed software systems that solve customer problems, with emphasis on latency, security, and usability. Lead and mentor other engineers and promote engineering excellence across the organization.

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

As a software engineer for antenna systems, you will collaborate with systems architects, hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to bring up and test systems combining FPGA, firmware, RF, and networking functions and build advanced tools for the following:
- Characterizing subsystems and systems related to antennas
- Complex data storage
- Hardware test automation
- Firmware design and implementation
- Application development
- Design automation for 2D and 3D structures
- Develop bring up tools and scripts for phased array systems



Key job responsibilities
- Gathering requirements, designing, implementing, integrating, testing, and launching high-quality, large-scale distributed software systems that solve significant customer problems
- Developing the best customer experience, keeping latency, security, and usability in mind
- Working across a broad range of AWS technologies to build advanced tools, distributed systems software and automation workflows
- Developing solutions that scale across a broad range
- Collaborating with a diverse range of cross-functional roles - systems architects, hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams
- Promoting a culture of engineering excellence by establishing best practices and technical standards across the organization
- Leading and mentoring other talented engineers

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
