As a Software Development Engineer II on Amazon's Sourcing Performance team within SCOT, you will design system architecture and develop software in an AWS cloud environment to support critical purchase orders and vendor performance. You will enhance web portals used by thousands of product vendors and internal staff, write unit and integration tests, and implement production alarms while monitoring and debugging production systems. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to improve sourcing and procurement processes and reduce defects across the supply chain.
At Amazon, we work hard to make the products our customers want and love available for purchase on our website. Last year, we ordered more than 10 billion items from thousands of vendors. Each time we procure inventory, there are critical financial and operational decisions that must be made, and performance standards that our vendors and internal teams must meet to ensure an optimal retail experience for our customers. Sourcing Performance team owns the software systems that make key decisions about Purchase Orders (POs), create and transmit POs to vendors, measure vendor performance against standards and policies, and use feedback, coaching, and financial chargebacks to drive vendors to reduce defects in the supply chain.
In your role as a Software Development Engineer II (SDE 2) on the Sourcing Performance team, you will design system architecture and develop software in an AWS cloud environment, enhance our web portals which are used by thousands of product vendors and internal employees, create unit and integration tests, implement alarms to alert when our services are not operating optimally in the production environment, monitor system performance, deep-dive into the root cause of important issues and defects, and acquire the domain knowledge necessary to understand how Amazon’s supply chain operates to serve our customers.
Together, you and your engineering teammates, technical and product managers will work to invent the next generation of Sourcing Performance services at Amazon, improve the way that we source and procure inventory, and reduce sourcing defects for Earth's most customer-centric company.
