Amazon's Risk Management Core Services team builds internet-scale risk evaluation systems to protect customers from bad actors across orders, returns, sign-ins and listings. As a Software Development Engineer, you will design, enhance and maintain mission-critical microservices and onboarding capabilities for risk evaluation, while adopting an AI-first mindset. You will leverage Gen AI technologies to improve operating experience and reduce time and cost, and participate in on-call rotations for critical systems.
The Core Services team owns the charter of evaluating bad actor risk of all kinds (Buyer, Seller, Brand, Vendor) across entities such as Orders, Returns, Sign-ins, Listings and any event that will be useful to evaluate risky behavior. We build self-service capabilities to experiment and launch new use cases while making it easy to on-board and manage existing ones all over the world. We are the gate keepers of customer trust by preventing bad actors from doing damage to good customers or scamming Amazon. The problems we solve will challenge the best in terms of scale (100s of billion evaluations) and latency (think milliseconds) while operating at the lowest cost
As the Software Development Engineer, you will design, enhance and maintain mission critical systems leveraging best of breed technologies with AI first mindset. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who have a hunger to learn, are righteous owners, demonstrate superior deep dive and problem-solving skills, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.
Key job responsibilities
1. Work on systems protecting millions of customers daily
2. Design, enhance and maintain various microservices that are part of risk evaluation systems
3. Improve onboarding and operating experience leveraging Gen AI technologies
4. Reduce time taken and cost of risk evaluation leveraging best of breed industry technologies
5. Participate in on-call rotation for critical systems
6. Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical approaches, meet timelines with optimal solutions
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experiencePreferred Qualifications
