At Amazon, we're building the infrastructure that powers audio advertising across Alexa devices and future Alexa+ conversational experiences. As a Software Development Manager in the Audio Ads team within Alexa Advertising, you'll lead development of scalable systems supporting interactive audio ad delivery, and future sponsored audio content in Alexa+ conversations.

This role blends technical leadership with strategic influence. You'll manage operational excellence for technical systems processing billions of opportunities annually, drive innovation in streaming audio monetization, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure supporting audio ads growth and future conversational advertising experiences.

You'll work with talented engineers solving complex challenges in real-time ad serving, audio streaming, and conversational AI integration. Your expertise will define system architecture, optimize ad delivery pipelines, and establish best practices for high-availability infrastructure supporting our growing audio ads business.


Key job responsibilities
* Lead development of scalable infrastructure for audio ads on Echo devices
* Optimize ad serving latency, cost, and business metrics
* Influence strategy by defining technical approaches for ad targeting, personalization, and interactivity
* Drive system architecture for integrating audio ads into Alexa+ conversational experiences and sponsored content delivery
* Collaborate with Amazon Ads teams to integrate demand-side platforms and expand audio advertiser reach

A day in the life
* You're a storyteller. Write bold visions, team charters, roadmaps, and tech strategies for scaling audio ads infrastructure to support future conversational advertising experiences. Engage with leadership and product managers to align capabilities with advertiser needs and customer experience goals
* You deliver results. Collaborate with Technical Program Managers, establish delivery governance, and ensure timely execution of your technology roadmap supporting audio ads growth
* You're a lighthouse for top talent. Perform resource capacity planning and hire the best engineers to build world-class audio advertising infrastructure
* You create high-performing teams. Mentor team members on architecture, foster innovation culture (patent submissions), and promote technical leaders who raise the quality bar

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
