As a Software Development Manager in AWS Life Sciences, you will lead a team of software engineers building AI agentic solutions that reshape how scientists bring therapies to fruition. You'll partner closely with product and science teams to bring new capabilities to production and drive architecture with AI development best practices. You will deliver with speed and agility, shaping team culture and processes to enable rapid customer feedback and scalable, reliable systems. This role combines life sciences impact with cloud-scale software engineering in an environment that values collaboration, transparency, and ownership.

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon’s unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers’ businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon’s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

The AWS Life Sciences mission is to help organizations unlock not just data, but human potential – accelerating research, enhancing quality of care, and ultimately improving lives with compassion, precision, and technological excellence. We believe that behind every data point is a human story – a patient's hope, a researcher's breakthrough, a life-changing discovery. We build AI agentic solutions that empower life sciences organizations to translate insights into tangible improvements in human health and scientific understanding.

We are seeking a Software Development Manager that is just as passionate about positively impacting lives as we are. We are at the frontier of building agentic solutions that are designed to innovate seamlessly with scientists, researchers, and bioinformaticians. If you have a life sciences background, or just want to build new applications in a fast-paced environment with rapid customer feedback, this is the place for you.

Key job responsibilities

As the team leader, you'll be responsible for working closely with the product and science teams to bring new capabilities to production. You will need to deliver with speed and agility by driving the architecture and team culture with AI development best practices.

The ideal candidate can help bring clarity to ambiguous problems and enjoys transparency. We are a team that believes in sharing (and caring), and we believe we can accomplish so much more when we work together. You should have experience working in the software development lifecycle, ideally taking a product from 0 to 1 at Amazon.
