As a Sr. Software Development Engineer on the EC2 Networking team, you will design, build, and maintain fault-tolerant software powering Amazon's EC2 infrastructure at scale. You will drive innovative features, lead design and architecture decisions, and mentor others in an agile environment to deliver high-quality, reliable services. You will work on core networking initiatives within AWS Utility Computing, collaborating across teams to improve performance and cost efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to own end-to-end deliverables and shape the direction of critical AWS services in a fast-growing area.

EC2 Networking at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is crucial for Amazon’s long-term success as a technology services company. The EC2 Networking team is looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer to lead, build, deliver, and maintain complex products that delight our customers and raise our performance bar. You will design fault-tolerant systems that run at massive scale as we continue to innovate best-in-class services and applications in the AWS Cloud, you will have the opportunity to deliver high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment.
We are a core team in AWS EC2 organization, to enable critical services that underpin the network. We are looking for a talented senior software development engineer to influence and shape the direction of our services as well as working on a new initiative. You will define, plan, and execute on deliverables that drive game changing improvements for internal and external customers alike.
Key job responsibilities
• Drive innovation and projects as a technical lead.
• Design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of innovative software solutions to deliver new features in performance, cost, reliability.
• Use software engineering best practices to ensure the standard of quality of all team deliverables.
• Build and implement high quality distributed system software.
• Work in an agile development environment prioritizing most important and impactful projects.
About the team
AWS Utility Computing (UC) delivers innovative foundational services like S3 and EC2, consistently releasing new features that distinguish AWS in the industry. Our team supports development of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including specialized security solutions. We actively support new members through knowledge-sharing and mentorship. With diverse experience levels, we provide one-on-one mentoring and thorough code reviews. Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
