Join the External Fulfilment team as a Support Engineer (SE I) responsible for the post-order experience, delivering Customer Service by Amazon and ideal returns for external fulfilment orders. You will collaborate with SDEs, PMs, TPMs, and SDMs to design, deploy, and iterate software that improves service efficiency, resilience, cost-efficiency, and security. You will document software for future developers, participate in code reviews and design discussions, and help scale the tech stack across multiple marketplaces. You will also contribute to operational excellence and mentoring within a fast-growing team.

We are part of External Fulfilment(EF) org where sellers manage fulfilment of their Amazon orders from their own or 3P operated premises. EF plays a critical role in driving Amazon’s fly wheel by providing Amazon customers over 90% of Amazon’s buyable ASINs sellers. EF complements FBA by serving (i) selection that is slow turning, new/emerging or long tail where sellers prefer to keep inventory in their own locations/3PLs and serve multiple channels (e.g., D2C/ICs), (ii) product types which are harder to serve via FBA (e.g., heavy bulky, custom-made products) where sellers have better fulfilment economics on EF, and (iii) in Emerging Stores, serving both head and tail selection as sellers are more reticent to commit inventory in FBA due to the complexity in onboarding/operating due to tax/regulatory constraints in some countries and have incumbent venues for selling.
As SE in EF, you will be responsible for managing Post Order experience for sellers specifically providing Customer Service By Amazon and perfect returns experience to buyers for external fulfilment orders.
As a leader within EF, you will provide both strategic and tactical oversight to build the features and functionality required to have the best in class offering for sellers. This leader will invent new ways to deliver value for sellers and their products, build capabilities to deter abuse, while leveraging the scale and innovation of technology from across the Amazon family, including AWS.

Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Software Development Engineers (SDEs), Product Managers (PMs), Technical Program Managers (TPMs), and Software Development Managers (SDMs) to craft and deliver top-notch technology solutions.
Plan, execute, evaluate, deploy, and uphold inventive software solutions that boost service efficiency, resilience, cost-efficiency, and security.
Meticulously document your software for the benefit of future developers, ensuring a clear understanding of the features and components you create.
Apply best practices in software engineering to maintain the quality of team deliverables at a high standard.
Actively engage in defect resolution by identifying root causes and delivering comprehensive solutions.
Contribute to the advancement of operational excellence within a rapidly expanding technology stack.
Take charge of problem-solving, propose effective solutions, and ensure a seamless handover to the relevant stakeholders.
Engage in discussions regarding design, project scope, and prioritization within the team.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, innovation initiatives, and potentially contribute to patent filings.
Play an essential role in the interview process and actively support team training and peer mentorship.
Evaluate key performance metrics and actively participate in shaping the evolution of our tech product.

Key job responsibilities
As a Support Engineer (SE I) within the External Fulfilment team, you will delve into a distributed service-oriented architecture, harnessing state-of-the-art technologies like AWS, Native iOS, Android, React JS, and others. Your responsibilities encompass creating and implementing fresh system capabilities capable of scaling across multiple marketplaces. You will maintain a comprehensive perspective on software architecture, guiding you through the entire software development journey, from evaluating product requirements to transforming them into actionable engineering tasks.
