Lead engineers to own and maintain the AWS SDKs and tools for .NET, guiding feature scoping and delivery. Manage the careers of all engineers in the team and collaborate with SDK leadership on new projects and yearly planning. Coordinate with other AWS teams to deliver cross-org features and drive the overall developer experience in the supported languages. The role operates in an open-source style environment with a focus on developer experience for .NET customers on AWS.

The AWS SDKs are the gateway to the 300+ AWS services, and are uniquely placed as the primary library for developers the world over to those services. The .NET SDK, high level libraries, and Powershell tools set the pace for development on AWS for .NET customers. We build out in the open, are passionate about developer experience for .NET customers on AWS, and are currently looking for a seasoned manager to help us make this experience even better.

Key job responsibilities
* Lead engineers to own and maintain the AWS SDKs and tools for .NET, guiding them on scoping and execution of features and issues.
* Understand how an open source project works and meld that with internal processes
* Manage the careers of all the engineers in the team
* Work with SDK leadership in taking on new projects, do yearly planning
* Work with other AWS teams to deliver cross-org features.

A day in the life
* Handle routine scrum activities
* Review asks from other AWS teams and participate (or own) its design and delivery in the 13 SDKs
* Work with AWS teams trying to get their new features released via the SDKs
* Propose new ways of building the SDKs.

About the team
The mission of the AWS SDK teams is to simplify the use of AWS for developers and allow them to build secure, reliable, idiomatic, and performant applications using any AWS service in the most popular programming languages. We achieve this mission by 1) vending SDKs that cover all AWS service APIs, 2) driving consistencies across AWS Services APIs, 3) owning the overall developer experience in all the supported programming languages, and 4) delivering a set of libraries that provide higher level abstraction and reduce the complexity of using AWS Services.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
