About the Role

The Document Intelligence Platform is BlackRock's solution for document processing, content management, and data distribution within alternative investments—serving portfolio managers, fund analysts, and investment professionals across the firm.

As a Vice President, you will be a senior technical leader responsible for architecture, delivery, and operational excellence across the full stack. You will lead a team of software engineers, drive technical strategy, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and ensure our platform scales to meet evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture (35%)

- Define and evolve the technical architecture across frontend and backend systems

- Lead strategic direction of the document processing engine, content management services, and data distribution layer

- Champion engineering best practices: code quality, testing, security, and observability

- Evaluatenew technologiesand provide guidance on complex system design decisions

- Drive technical innovation whilemaintainingproduction stability

Team Leadership & Development (30%)

- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of 3-8 software engineers

- Set team goals, conduct performance reviews, and drive career development

- Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

- Recruit top engineering talent and develop team competencies

- Champion agile practices and efficient delivery processes

Delivery & Execution (20%)

- Ensuretimely, high-quality delivery of platform features

- Oversee production operations, incident management, and system reliability (SLAs/SLOs)

- Balance technical debt management with feature development

- Drive automation of build, test, and deployment processes

- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and audit requirements

Stakeholder Management & Communication (15%)

- Partner with Product Management to define technical roadmaps

- Communicate technical strategy to senior leadership

- Articulate technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical audiences

- Manage expectations and negotiate scope, timelines, and resources

Required Qualifications

Experience & Background

- 8-12+ years of professional software engineering experience

- 5+ years in technical leadership roles

- 3+years experienceleading teams of 3+ engineers

- Proventrack recorddelivering large-scale, mission-critical systems

- Deepexpertisein full-stack development

- Strong background in financial services technology preferred

- Experience with cloud-native architectures on Azure
