The Software Engineering Lead/VP for Legal and Compliance Technology will design and implement scalable, secure LC technology solutions, leveraging AWS and SaaS platforms. You will define technical strategy, develop roadmaps, and lead a high-performing development team to deliver integrated LC systems. The role requires deep LC domain knowledge, strong architectural leadership, and the ability to align technology with global LC requirements, data privacy, and compliance.  We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Software Engineer to join our Legal and Compliance Technology group. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing cutting-edge technology solutions that support the organization's Legal and Compliance (L&C) functions globally. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in L&C systems, a proven track record of leading development teams, and experience architecting solutions that integrate custom applications with SaaS platforms. 

As the Senior Software Engineer, you will define the technical strategy, lead the development of scalable and secure systems, and ensure alignment with global L&C requirements. You will also play a key role in fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment, creating technical roadmaps, and driving the vision and strategic planning for L&C technology solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Solution Architecture 

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing architecture for L&C systems, leveraging AWS infrastructure and SaaS platforms. 

  • Develop technical roadmaps and strategies that align with business objectives and L&C requirements. 

  • Ensure solutions are designed to meet global L&C standards, including data privacy, security, and compliance. 

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance system capabilities and performance. 

Custom Application Development 

  • Architect and oversee the development of custom applications using C#, Python, Terraform, and AWS services. 

  • Define best practices for cloud-native development and ensure adherence to coding standards. 

  • Collaborate with development teams to deliver high-quality, maintainable software solutions tailored to L&C needs. 

SaaS Platform Integration 

  • Lead the implementation and integration of SaaS platforms commonly used in L&C workflows, including Contract Pod AI, Star Compliance, ServiceNow LSD and Snowflake. 

  • Design robust integrations between SaaS systems and internal applications using APIs, middleware, and other integration tools. 

  • Ensure seamless data flow, interoperability, and adherence to global data privacy regulations. 

Vision and Strategic Planning 

  • Define the long-term vision for L&C technology solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and L&C strategies. 

  • Help develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for L&C technology, balancing innovation, scalability, and business priorities. 

  • Identify and address gaps in current systems and processes, driving continuous improvement and modernization. 

  • Partner with L&C leadership to align technology initiatives with workforce strategies and organizational objectives. 

Team Building and Leadership 

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. 

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines. 

  • Encourage professional growth and skill development within the team, creating opportunities for learning and advancement. 

  • Promote open communication and collaboration across teams, ensuring alignment with stakeholders and business partners. 

Global L&C Expertise 

  • Stay informed about global L&C trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure solutions align with evolving needs. 

  • Collaborate with international teams to address region-specific L&C requirements. 

  • Implement security best practices to protect sensitive employee data and maintain system coherence across global operations. 

 

Qualifications 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 

  • 10+ years of software development and architecture experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role. 

  • Proven experience in L&C systems, including designing solutions for L&C workflows and processes. 

  • Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and SaaS platform integration. 

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C#. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines. 

  • Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with L&C SaaS platforms 

  • Certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect). 

  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks. 

  • Experience working in a global organization with multinational teams. 

  • Deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure and cloud-native development. 

  • Expertise in SaaS platform implementation and integration for L&C systems. 

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, APIs, and middleware tools. 

  • Extensive experience in L&C systems, including familiarity with L&C workflows and processes (e.g., AML, Conflicts). 

  • Proven experience in building, mentoring, and leading high-performing development teams. 

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with global stakeholders, experience working in a global organization and addressing region-specific L&C requirements. 

  • Experience fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

  • Demonstrated prior experience defining and executing a long-term vision for L&C technology. 

  • Experience developing and maintaining multi-year roadmaps that align with business priorities. 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex challenges and drive innovation.

Expected annual base salary range:

$160,000 - $225,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses.
