You’ll join a high-energy, collaborative team of engineers and architects in bp’s Salesforce Center for Enablement. You’ll partner with technology leaders and business stakeholders to deliver robust, automated, and scalable DevOps solutions for bp’s Salesforce platforms, driving digital delivery and operational perfection.

Let me tell you about the role

As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for crafting, building, and maintaining automation pipelines and DevOps processes for Salesforce delivery. You’ll own the implementation of CI/CD using MS Azure DevOps (ADO), lead code repositories, and nurture best practices in automation, testing, and release management. Your expertise will help accelerate value realisation for professional and citizen developers across bp, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient Salesforce deployments.

What you will deliver

  • Architect, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce using MS Azure DevOps (ADO), and related tools.
  • Automate deployment, testing, and release processes for Salesforce applications
  • Lead and optimise code repositories, branching strategies, and version control for Salesforce projects.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency and developer experience.
  • Collaborate with platform architects, developers, and business teams to ensure best practices in DevOps, security, and compliance.
  • Design and implement robust testing frameworks for Salesforce delivery, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and developers within the C4E and wider bp Salesforce community.
  • Fix and resolve issues in deployment, automation, and platform operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in DevOps processes, tooling, and developer enablement.
  • Support the evolution of C4E products and services, including onboarding, platform tooling, and technical standards.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

Technical skills we need from you

  • Extensive experience (typically 9+ years) in DevOps engineering, with a focus on automation, CI/CD, and pipeline management.
  • Proven expertise in MS Azure DevOps (ADO), including pipeline design, automation, and integration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Git, repository management, and branching/merging strategies.
  • Deep experience with Salesforce platform delivery, including Salesforce DX, scratch orgs, sandbox management, and metadata deployments.
  • Strong coding skills in APEX (including CLI), and familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement testing frameworks for Salesforce delivery (unit, integration, E2E).
  • Experience with release management, structured deployment processes, and troubleshooting deployment failures.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in Salesforce and cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desirable skills

  • Experience with additional DevOps tools (e.g., Copado Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform).
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I/II and/or Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Associate (AZ-400).
  • Experience in designing and implementing automation for large-scale, multi-org Salesforce environments.
  • Exposure to citizen developer enablement and coaching.
