Director, Cloud Engineering – FI Platform Engineering

The Team:

Fidelity Institutional Technology (FIT) is seeking an ambitious, self-motivated individual who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity to accelerate Cloud Adoption via common automated & innovative pipeline solutions. As a key member of the FI Platform Engineering Team, you will drive cloud solutions and modernization efforts across the technology stack, enabling innovation, stability, scalability, and engineering excellence.

The Role:

This role is ideal for a forward-thinking leader passionate about the DevOps culture, cloud-native architectures, and Generative AI. You will be responsible for leading cloud engineering initiatives via hands on development across our Open Tofu Modules, Pipelines, Onboarding API’s and Frontend UI. This role will require a high level of collaboration with architecture and application teams to deliver a resilient, secure, and scalable cloud platform. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of FIT’s infrastructure and platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help drive the design, development, and operation of cloud deployment pipelines in AWS.

  • Partner with internal squads to accelerate delivery via automated pipelines and Generative AI

  • Deliver platform engineering initiatives aligned with enterprise cloud first strategy.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.

  • Champion DevSecOps practices and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.

  • The position will be an individual contributor role.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 8–10 years of software engineering experience with a focus on automation and SDLC.

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in AWS cloud development and migration.

  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, NodeJS, Angular, GoLang, and Java.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Open Tofu, AWS CloudFormation).

  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and platform resiliency.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.

Preferred:

  • Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or AI technologies.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering team growth.

  • Expertise in Kubernetes, AWS Native Services, and Serverless Technologies (Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM).

  • Familiarity with Generative AI and its integration into cloud platforms.

  • Strong DevSecOps background with secure CI/CD pipeline implementation.

  • Experience with observability tools (DataDog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).

  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins Core, Artifactory, and Runtime Monitoring.

  • Database experience with DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.

  • Solid foundation in Linux system administration, networking, and load balancing.

  • Strong problem-solving skills across systems, networks, and applications.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
