Position Description:

Designs, develops, and maintains platforms using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, and mature developmental strategies. Automates development pipelines using Git, Node, Jenkins, Docker, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), and Test-Driven Development (TDD) best practices. Develops Restful Application Program Interfaces (APIs). Ensures quality assurance readiness of delivered software with end-to-end tests, unit tests, and automation. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions in an AWS cloud-based environment, using EKS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions in an AWS cloud-based environment, using EKS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing a BPMN2.0 compliant process to integrate multiple processes and systems using BPMN tools -- Camunda or Informatica ActiveVOS; coordinating interactions from Camunda and ActiveVOS to downstream systems using Partner Service Providers and Consumers; creating SOAP and REST based services using Camunda Micro-Service or ActiveVOS; performing data manipulation to send desired input for services and format output for services using XQuery, JavaScript, or Groovy Script; performing end-to-end tasks -- design, development, deployment, and validation -- in Camunda or ActiveVOS.
  • DE performing Java coding, TDD, mocking, and integration tests using Spring Boot framework; performing process validations – back-end API Calls; writing Python scripts to process fallouts in bulk and production environments; refactoring existing application problem areas and designing new approaches to avoid issues in production, using Datadog; changing the architecture from REST API to an Event Driven Messaging System to reduce dependencies on external systems; and creating a new architype for regular process development, using Python, Camunda, Java, JavaScript, and Groovy.
  • DE implementing new business rules in JBOSS BRMS and integrating rules with Camunda micro-service or ActiveVOS; installing Camunda, ActiveVOS, and BRMS in production and deploying code, using Jenkins CI/CD; and performing migration from Informatica ActiveVOS processes to an open source BPMN tool -- Camunda.
  • DE creating Web pages in MVC framework using JavaServer Pages (JSP) as the front-end and Oracle as the back-end, according to client requirements; using JavaScript in JSP pages to show minimum required data in User Interface (UI) and converting the data entered by user into a meaningful payload to communicate with backend service; developing secure SOAP based Web Services in Java with additional authentication for exposed Web services; and analyzing change requests and creating new processes or amending the existing process to accept new types of datasets, using Oracle workflow tool.
