Job Description Summary:
Fortinet is looking for System Administrator Engineer to join the EMEA Customer Readiness Testing team in Sophia Antipolis Technical Assistance Centre, France. This is a technical role, to manage and optimize a technical infrastructure dedicated to Fortinet product validation projects. The role involves maintaining and improving a heterogeneous environment composed of Linux servers, virtualization systems, Docker containerization, and various testing, monitoring, and storage solutions.
The Customer Readiness Testing team performs tests designed to specifically replicate the customer environment in which the Fortinet products are used with the end goal to improve confidence in our released software builds.
The position requires candidates with a solid background in Linux system administration, virtualization and container technologies, and infrastructure automation, combined with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail.
The position entails an excellent ability to clearly write all detailed information and to understand and interpret written information.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and virtual machines in production and development environments
- Maintain and administer Docker infrastructure:
- Deploy and monitor containerized applications
- Manage Docker images, containers, volumes, and private registries
- Ensure container security and network configurations
- Administer Traffic Generators (FortiTester / Spirent / Ixia)
- Provision or assist in hardware provisioning in CRT datacenter
- Responsible for upgrading and maintaining TG hardware/software following ITIL methodology
- Manage TG resources by assigning TG to customer projects
- Create and maintain TG management VM templates
- Manage access to CRT application flows catalog
- Collect post-mortem TG usage experience and share for analysis
- Provide support to customer projects by handling JIRA TG incidents/issues until resolution
- Interface with vendor support to follow up external tickets and escalations about TG hardware/software
- Manage monitoring and alerting solutions (e.g. Zabbix)
- Daily monitor performance, availability, and resource usage of the systems
- Perform regular system patching, upgrades, and security hardening
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of core infrastructure services
- Continuously improve system performance, observability, and reliability through proactive monitoring and capacity planning
- Document operational procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides
- Automate system administration tasks using Bash, Python, or tools like Ansible
Application Support
- Administer and maintain observability tools:
- Grafana: Manage dashboards, alerts, and data sources
- Elasticsearch: Optimize indexing, manage data retention, and monitor cluster health
- Kibana: Configure visualizations, dashboards, and integrations with Elasticsearch
- Troubleshoot application-level issues and collaborate with developers or support teams for resolution
- Ensure performance tuning and availability of key applications
ITIL Process Adherence
- Incident Management: Respond to and resolve system and application incidents according to SLA
- Problem Management: Identify root causes of recurring issues and propose long-term solutions
- Change Management: Plan, test, and implement changes while minimizing service disruptions
Skills and Attributes Requirements:
- Proficient spoken and written English
- Strong experience in Linux system administration (Debian)
- Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi / vCenter or Proxmox for virtual machine management
- Proficiency in Docker and container lifecycle management
- Familiarity with ElasticSearch, Grafana, or similar monitoring/analytics tools
- Experience with storage management, backups, and network configuration in a Linux/VMware environment
- Good knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and maintenance tasks
- Understanding of network and security fundamentals (DNS, routing, switching, firewalls)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues with a structured approach to problem solving
- Very good presentation and technical documentation skills
- Good understanding of Web application concepts, security and vulnerabilities
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines or infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
- Knowledge of test automation environments or software validation workflows
- Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, or similar DevOps tools
- Exposure to high-availability or scalable architecture
- Work experience with Fortinet products an advantage
- Positive, communicative and customer-oriented attitude
- Ability to work in multicultural team environment
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Four years or more experience in system admin (IT or technical support)
- Graduate of Bachelor or Engineering school in computer science
