As an Operations Engineer in GFME, you will design, evolve and maintain production platforms, including CI/CD pipelines and multiple environments. You will be hands-on with infrastructure and automation, participating in POCs, design, documentation, development and testing. You will work on OpenShift/Kubernetes environments, CI/CD pipelines, production environments, and monitor for stability, performance and security, supporting 45 ING entities via SWIFT network. The Mission

About GFME (Global Financial Messaging Engine)

The role of the GFME application is to connect all ING entities across the globe to the SWIFT network. As a central component in the movement of money, we are not only responsible for making money arrive at the correct destination, but also to make sure all transactions are screened for fraud or money laundry. Basically, we provide a business critical application which comes with many technical challenges such as ~100% uptime, exactly once processing, and a need for world-class monitoring.

Our Engineering team consists of around 15 people divided in a Product Owner, Front-end Engineering, Operations, and Back-end Engineering.

We're looking for a seasoned OPS Engineer within the Payments and Settlement Services area to help us build, improve and run our payment solutions.

Together with the team you will be responsible for building and running IT assets that will handle the message exchange between 45 ING entities worldwide and the rest of the world by means of the SWIFT network, reporting solutions and supporting other teams in the area with their operational activities and journey towards new technologies.

Your day to day:

As an Operations Engineer you will be responsible to design, evolve and maintain production platforms in GFME. That includes CI/CD pipelines, test and production environments. Candidates will be involved in hands-on activities including POCs, design, documentation, development and test of infrastructure and automation.

We are looking for strong technologists who are passionate to solve large-scale computer engineering problems, in a repeatable and maintainable way.

Your Duties & Responsibilities

  • Define, design, and automate complex infrastructural tasks;
  • Work with developers to continuously improve platform automation, monitoring, alerting and stability to meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability and reliability;
  • Ability to find and help fix infrastructure, performance, scalability, and other live issues in a very time critical environment;
  • Help the team recognize potential infrastructure or security issues, and create a plan to solve them;
  • Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • (Mandatory) Experience in creating, maintaining and optimizing OpenShift/Kubernetes environments with Helm;
  • (Mandatory) Experience in creating, maintaining and optimizing CI/CD pipeline;
  • Experience in managing and supporting production environments;
  • Experience in managing the infrastructure of microservice based, highly distributed, scalable, concurrent and low latency systems.
