As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Corporate and Investment Banking - Payments Team, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. You will own the end-to-end quality and reliability of our real-time payment rails across locations. This is not a traditional QA role; you are an engineering leader tasked with ensuring sub-second transaction integrity for thousands of global clients,
- Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
- Scales and mentors a global QE organization across APAC and LATAM, fostering a "Shift-Left" culture where quality is a shared engineering responsibility, not a downstream phase.
- Architects and governs high-concurrency E2E automation frameworks that enable "zero-touch" deployments into production while maintaining 99.999% availability.
- Deploys advanced Synthetic Testing to detect issues or latencies in before they impact a single customer in production.
- Leads Chaos Engineering initiatives to stress-test our "anti-fragile" systems against regional infrastructure failures, ensuring the payment state is never lost during network partitions.
- Owns the performance strategy for extreme burst events. You will be accountable for system stability during the Super Bowl, Black Friday, and massive regional e-commerce festivals.
- Drives deep validation for high-stakes API orchestrations and global standards (e.g., ISO 20022), ensuring seamless interoperability across fragmented payment ecosystems.
- Ensures the platform remains compliant with diverse regional mandates (e.g., Brazil’s Pix, India’s UPI, or local data residency laws) without slowing down the release velocity.
- Establishes data-driven metrics like Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Automated Regression Speed to provide executive transparency on global release readiness
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Experience in
QA assurance and NFR space- Experience with heading cross-functional teams of technologists - hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Experience leading modernization of platforms from testing perspective, Knowledge of transformation projects
- Experience working a level where the person can lead pro-active test strategy, find new ways to innovate and automate this space
- Practical cloud native experience
- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
