Senior technical architect role within Asset Management Technology responsible for defining target architecture, roadmaps, and driving cross-functional solutions across trading, portfolio, and market data flows. The Lead Architect partners with business and engineering to design cloud-based, resilient systems (AWS), CI/CD pipelines, and practical data models/APIs while improving reliability through automation. Role includes vendor/internal design evaluations, front-to-back process re‑engineering, and applying domain expertise across order/execution lifecycles, portfolio management, risk, and regulatory requirements.

As a Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset Management Technology organization. You’ll drive solutions across multiple business functions with a focus on business processes, sound systems & data design, and domain expertise in trading, investments, and/or markets. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical architecture solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of project goals.
Job responsibilities
- Partners with business and engineering to shape pragmatic technical approaches
- Defines target architecture and roadmaps; contribute to architecture governance
- Evaluates emerging technologies and guide adoption
- Improves reliability through automation and elimination of recurring issues
- Leads vendor and internal design evaluations to ensure fit and quality
- Leads front‑to‑back process re‑engineering to simplify, automate, and strengthen controls; set clear KPIs and outcomes
- Sets practical data design for applications and integrations (data models and contracts); promote data quality and usability
- Designs integrations for trade, portfolio, and market data flows
- Applies domain knowledge across order/execution lifecycles, portfolio management, risk, performance, and regulatory needs
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and probe deeply
- Hands‑on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operations
- Advanced in one or more programming languages; AWS cloud experience
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery; strong SDLC and agile practices
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD, resiliency, and security
- Demonstrated proficiency in a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI/ML, mobile)
- In‑depth knowledge of financial services and enterprise IT
- Ability to assess current and emerging technologies to recommend future‑state solutions
- Proven experience leading process re‑engineering or continuous improvement with measurable outcomes
- Strong data design fundamentals (models, APIs, events) and data quality awareness
- Practical knowledge of trading, investments, and markets across asset classes and the trade lifecycle
- Understanding of Asset Management business and sub-capabilities
- Ability to independently conduct meetings with senior stakeholders
- Experience with OMS/EMS, portfolio, performance, risk, and/or compliance systems
- Experience defining target operating models and success metrics
