Lead Architect on the Consumer & Community Banking team responsible for defining and delivering architecture solutions for cloud-native software applications. You will engage technical teams and business stakeholders, design scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and data pipelines, and drive automation, CI/CD, and operational stability. The role includes hands-on development, code review, troubleshooting, and evaluating emerging technologies and vendor solutions to meet business needs.

As a Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Team, you are an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality architecture solutions for various software applications on modern cloud-based technologies. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical architecture solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of project goals.
Job responsibilities
- Engages technical teams and business stakeholders to discuss and propose technical approaches to meet current and future needs
- Defines the technical target state of their product and drives achievement of the strategy
- Participates in architecture governance bodies
- Evaluates recommendations and provides feedback on new technologies
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on Technical Architecture concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python).
- Experience in architecting and building highly scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems and micro services on cloud/distributed environments.
- Experience in designing and building batch and streaming data pipelines.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods, including automated end-to-end and performance testing.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies (CI/CD, application resiliency, security).
- Practical cloud-native experience.
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend optimal solutions.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with modeling languages (UML, C4) and enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF).
- AWS Certification.
- Prior Fin-tech industry experience
- Experience of the financial services industry and IT systems (preferred).
