Lead Software Engineer in Electronic Trading Integration responsible for DevOps, release management, automation, production certification, and operational stability across global regions. Work closely with equities trading business to deliver scalable, secure, high-performance solutions and support production and regulatory needs. Drive process improvements, automation of recurring issues, and lead technical evaluations and communities of practice across engineering teams.

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Work closely with a best-in-class trading business on projects that directly impact revenue and direct exposure to the Electronic Trading Technology platform that spans multiple functions and applications.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Banking’s Equities Technology team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an Integration / DevOps technical contributor in our Electronic Trading Technology team, you are responsible for Change Validation & Signoff, Production Certification, Automation, Release Management, Production Support, Process Improvements, Operational Stability, and for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. You will have to work across all the 3 regions ASIA, EMEA and NA based on the opportunity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions through design, development, and technical troubleshooting, demonstrating the ability to think beyond conventional approaches to build solutions and resolve technical problems.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Identifies gaps and delivers effective solutions for process improvement, project management, release management, automation, and operational stability.
  • Oversees all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production support.
  • Responds to regulatory needs, business requests, production requests, and stress testing with utmost urgency.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented discussions in DevOps.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies. 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more scripting languages, such as Shell, Python, or Perl.
  • Skilled in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Proficient with UNIX, GIT, Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, IntelliJ, Jira, Confluence, and related tools.
  • Extensive experience in the financial services industry and IT systems, with a focus on real-time, high-performance, and e-Trading environments. Expertise includes capital markets (equities/derivatives), electronic trading, front office operations, FIX protocol, and the trade life cycle.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical development skills with exceptional problem-solving and debugging abilities.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong technology generalist with experience building and supporting high-performance, resilient applications for real-time environments.
  • Experience working in teams with strong software development processes—including build, test, and deploy—combined with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in programming with C, C++ or Java is a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of FIX Protocol and other financial messaging protocols is preferred.
  • Experience with the front-to-back Electronic Trading Technology stack.
