Senior Lead Software Engineer on the Consumer and Community Banking – API Marketplace team responsible for designing, building, and operating secure, scalable API and cloud platforms. You'll provide technical leadership, develop production-quality code, drive product and architecture decisions, and mentor peers across engineering teams. The role emphasizes cloud infrastructure (public/private/hybrid), Kubernetes platform management, API design and management, automation (Terraform/Ansible), and telemetry for reliability and performance.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking – API Marketplace Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software  Development Life Cycle
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, infrastructure automation, testing, and operational stability
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate/deploy applications across public and private clouds. Knowledge of on-premises and remote Data Center technologies and operations
  • Hands on experience in Design, develop and manage Kubernetes platforms across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments
  • Optimize resource utilization and cluster performance for scalability and cost-efficiency
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) (e.g., Java), scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python)
  • Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP web services
  • Solid grasp of security protocols and best practices for API authentication and authorization
  • Experience in deploying and using telemetry tools for infrastructure monitoring, optimization and improving reliability
  • Experience with automation and orchestration platforms like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet for automating configuration management and deployment processes
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Design, develop and maintain API platforms to enable communication between diverse software applications
  • Experience with API Management tools (e.g., Apigee, KONG, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management)
  • Knowledge of API lifecycle management and documentation standards (Swagger/OpenAPI) 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve API-related infrastructure, solving for resiliency, high-availability and scaling.
